Does anyone know why certain foreign places like Germany contain the complete uncut edition, whereas the U.S. only has the PG rated edition?

From what I have heard is that the nudity was requested as part of the deal with foreign investors. (A common practice back in the 70's & 80's)

Don't know if this is really accurate but also heard that Adrienne Barbeau requested as part of her contract for the nudity to only be shown in foreign markets. (Thus making it difficult for the uncut print to be shown in the US).

I believe the uncut print belongs to someone else other than MGM, and MGM can use it but they have to pay the foreign rights holder.

And MGM might not be keen to do this do to the DVD fiasco that happened a decade ago.

The uncut version was shown in at least some US theaters when the movie came out because that's the version I saw.

I liked the cartoon more. It would be cool if they released that.
The best number is 73. Why? 73 is the 21st prime number. Its mirror, 37, is the 12th and its mirror, 21, is the product of multiplying 7 and 3... and in binary 73 is a palindrome, 1001001, which backwards is 1001001.
Films I'd like to see on Blu-Ray Disc:
Un Chien Andalou (1929)
Scarface (1932)
ABC Weekend Specials (1977–1995) [TV Movies]

I'm cool with the originally-released theatrical version of Swamp Thing, which is what we have on this Scream Factory Blu-ray.

As much as I love female nudity, it just seems sort of out of place in this particular film.

Nudity was actually pretty frequent in "family oriented" (or PG rated) films in the early '80s. Off the top of my head: Clash of the Titans, Beastmaster, Sheena, Sixteen Candles...

I've said it before, and I'll say it again--Never in the history of the world has gratuitous female nudity ever hurt a film.

The uncut version was shown theatrically in the US as I stated above.

Good point.

We really need Sheena and The Beastmaster on Blu-ray, by the way.

The party scene maybe, but Barbeau in the swamp is a continuation of the over the shoulder tease and definitely belongs in the film. When I saw the theatrical version as a kid and they panned away from her I felt robbed ...

It's not very rational to make a gender distinction if you're talking about the overall value to a film as if it's an objective statement. Sometimes it is distracting. Same goes with violence. The kid in me wants a lot of both, but the adult in me knows how to find porn when I need titilation. I have nothing against gratituitous nudity in theory, but seeing a bit more equal representation would go a long way in satisfying some who do. But it would be weird seeing Swamp Thing without boobs.

+1 But they need to include the Beastmaster Easter eggs with the release.
