I've sold both of them recently and working through my research to decide between the 5020 or AE8000. I've stopped gaming so no longer concerned about Epson's input lag.

Just got my 5020 in the mail yesterday. Haven't had much time to play with it yet, but the black levels are most impressive compared the epson 8350 it replaced. Can't wait to get some down time to really test out all the specs and even the 3D aspect.

The difference between Epson 5010 and 5020 is not that much. Ghosting is still there and lag time. If you are just looking for good 3D and for HDTV then the W7000 will be better. I just returned the 5020 because of ghosting and lag time. It's not on every movie you will see ghosting but it's there.

Just on 3D movies you will see ghosting 2D no problems. Not all movies will have ghosting just some will. Movies like Happy Feet 2 or Monsters vs Aliens you will see ghosting. I would check for convergence and focus issues once you have it all set up.

The 5010 I owned had some issues with convergence, there was some adjustment for it which helped (I think the convergence adjustment is done digitally and not an actual alignment of the panels though). I also noticed some more than normal blooming due to the lens when the projector was ceiling mounted and using lens shift - seems to be a common problem with the 5010; I haven't heard if the lens was changed in the 5020.

I don't think the lens were change on the 5020. The 5020 got THX and a little more power on the lamp.

So really enjoying the projector. 3D is pretty sweet, when it doesnt make me sick. One problem though is that I have to refocus the projector almost every time I turn it on. And lately, it's falls slightly out of focus by the end of a movie. Any tips or trouble shoots?

I'm pretty sure this is not normal. It's not the same model, but my 3020 is in focus the moment I turn it on and it still is in focus 10 hours later. I now have about 250 hours on it. Unless some other 5020 owners pitch in, I suggest you contact Epson.

I'm thinking about buying a 1080p 3D projector and I've narrowed my choices to this and the Panasonic AE8000. Any advice?
