Ugh, my wife does the same thing. I'll walk in, pull the film off the shelf, put it on her lap, and ask: Why aren't you just watching this?

A lot of my Blus. I buy them all the time and then put them in the player for a quick preview, but while I own the Blu-Ray player of the house I don't own the HD-TV, and my dad just wants to watch crappy TV (in SD, even) so I rarely ever get to pop in a BD (I collect mostly animation, and he doesn't like that very much).

Out of my collection, I haven't come around to watching..

Bambi (sep. 2012)
Cinderella (dec. 2012)
The Lion King (feb. 2012)
Peter Pan (dec. 2012)
Pocahontas (apr. 2012)
Princess and the Frog (nov. 2012)
Snow White (jul. 2012)
Tangled (oct. 2012)
Winnie the Pooh (oct. 2012)

So I guess The Lion King is the "winner" among my BDs.

Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest [Blu-ray]
Order Placed: May 27, 2007
Shipped on May 29, 2007

I like using's "new" feature to keep track of which discs I haven't watched. These days I don't order as many titles because I don't have the money, but I'll order a crapload over Black Friday when titles hit 3.99 and sure it may take several months before I get around to watching them. They're not going anywhere, they're going to last my whole lifetime. I have young children so I will have way more time to watch Blu-ray Discs 18 years from now than I do right now, and how much better quality do I need for "Wedding Crashers" than 1080p with lossless audio? Some things don't need to be upgraded, even if I do have a 4K3D OLED 20 years from now.

Movie buffs watches the movies in their collection, not buy them to use for decoration, to impress other people, or buy thousands of blu-rays just because they can afford it. When you finally get around watching those movies (if ever, it's been 6 years already) you better hope none of those blu-rays and HD-DVDs are defected because if they are, you're out of luck!
Sometimes you also buy a product to vote with your dollars, back in the format war I purchased quite a few titles I may not normally have bought just to help with sales figures...I wanted to help make sure one side won so that we wouldn't be stuck with 720p downloads wth lossy 5.1 Dolby after both sides caved in. I certainly couldn't afford it, but felt like I couldn't afford not to as well. As a movie buff I wanted to help make sure the titles I really wanted, like Godfather, Arabia, Star Wars, etc., would see a viable format to be released on.

I went through my collection and realised that I have around 35 movies that I haven't watched even once (on any format/theater let alone BD! ).

There is so much backlog with new BDs coming in every month ! Am I the only one with this problem?

Some of these are so bad that looking back on it, I'm wondering why I bought them in the first place while some of them are regarded as being so good that I can't believe I haven't watched them yet!
I end up spending an hour deciding what to watch and by the time I select a BD, it's dinner time!

My list (I bought some of these like Black Hawk Dawn 3 years ago!!) :

JVC DLA-x550 Projector | 140 Inch Matte White Screen | Polk 7.1.2 Atmos System: TSi 300, CS20, DSW500 sub, OWM5 rear heights| Marantz sr6011 receiver
OPPO UDP-203 | Sennheiser RS 175 Wireless Headphones
LG 55inch Passive 3D TV | Sony HTiB 5.1 | Apple TV 3 | Apple Airport Express |
Philips Hue mood lighting

I got the Universal Monsters set for Christmas 2014, but I have yet to watch the Claude Rains Phantom of the Opera. I'm just in no rush. *shrugs* I'd much rather watch the Lon Chaney version.

Schindler's List, maybe. It's a hard movie to be in the "mood" for.

The very first Blu-ray I got was Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. Didn't even have a Blu-ray player at the time. Saw it in the theaters, got it as a gift, have never watched the actual disc.

That's the husband. Now, I just shake my head. He knows it's on the shelf.

Lincoln Lawyer
Saturday Night Fever - It's still in the plastic. I bought it for next to nothing and then I thought "this could come out on UHD" and decided to not watch it.

One of my first five Blu-rays I ever bought was Tron (the original). But back then the only BD player I had was on my laptop, and the software would never update itself and I had to rely on free trials of other software to view most of my Blu-rays.

At the time I had purchased Tron, it would not read on my laptop's current software and the free trials had ran up. So I settled on watching the DVD that came with it instead.

And for some reason I haven't ever gotten around to checking out the Blu-ray. I counted the DVD as a "watch" and I've been so busy watching newly bought movies since then that I've never had a chance to go back to it (I've been binging for about seven years now). I should really just throw the title on my "to-watch" list. It's time for a revisit anyway.
