G.I. Joe: Retaliation as well.
Best Buy had the Extended Cut, while Target had Bonus Features.

I can't see Paramount sitting there thinking it is a great idea to split up the feature like this.
Enterprise Season 2, I think, was the Best Buy Exclusive.
Next Gen, Season 4, I think, was a German Exclusive

Im watching the third one again this week but I remember really liking it on my last watch. There are some great setpieces and scenes in GF III, love the whole Vatican intrigue stuff.

Don't you mean the part where he is screaming during his
[Show spoiler]daughter's death
? His
[Show spoiler]death
at the very end isn't drawn out at all.

Not trying to open up a can of worms in regards to quality of GFIII or STID, but while watching into darkness I thought it was preaty obvious that getting all the federation big shots in a room together and then having them
[Show spoiler]taken out by a "helicopter" like vehicle
was a preaty obvious homage or subconscious rip-off of The Godfather pt. III.

Don't tell me you've forgotten the daftness of him slumping in his chair and then, ever so slowly, falling out of it? It's sooooo bad.

Yup, soon as I saw that bit in STID I knew where they got it from. And thats one of the many great bits of GF3 for me.

Every helicopter hit from now until eternity isn't an "homage or subconscious rip-off of The Godfather pt. III". As Freud said : "Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar" - and not ... er, something else.

homage is a strong word. Rip-off would be a better term to use.

who knows for sure with the bluray release - it just seems weird that this is the first Trek release to have it split this badly but maybe Paramount is trying a new experiment and just chose this film. But I don't see them doing an major release with all the features anytime soon. Paramount is weird when it comes to re-releases and they keep telling the world how happy they are with the success of Into Darkness so I don't see a better release until maybe when the next movie is coming out.

What's worse is that it's not even the first Trek homage to The Godfather, Part III's helicopter massacre sequence. Star Trek: Voyager had already done it in 1996, so at best it's an homage to an homage:

Or maybe it's just a scene with a helicopter.
