I'm ashamed to confess I haven't bought any of the excellent Evil Dead movies on blu-ray yet except for the remake. So for you Ashes out there, what would be the best set transfer-wise (and uncut) for the trilogy on blu-ray? Or do I need to get separate releases?

I got the trilogy set which is available in the UK - I think it's by Studio Canal - and everyone raved about those transfers but The Evil Dead at least looked awful in my opinion. I know it's old, and extremely low budget, but you can clean up an image without destroying it but it looked like The Evil Dead wasn't touched at all just blown up, to only heighten the blurry, noisy mess of a presentation. I'd look to see if it's been released by anyone else under a different master because yikes!

Evil Dead:http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Ev...Blu-ray/16719/

Evil Dead 2:http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Evil-D...Blu-ray/27439/

Army of Darkness is a little more complicated. The only one available in the US is this one:http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Army-o...-Blu-ray/4142/ However many would say the French Edition is the best because you get the alternate cut, it's region free:http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Army-o...Blu-ray/61907/

I just bought The Evil Dead steelbook from Best Buy, it looks great especially when displayed with the reboot steel. I have never seen The Evil Dead, I hope it's good.
