Grabbed one of those Mediabooks through the bay. They all look nice but I fell in love with the Nurse/baby version despite the fact that the nurse is only in the film briefly. Not really concerned with whether or not these are bootleg since I got this mostly for the collectible packaging. The audio flub sounds like it might be distracting but thankfully the Dolby track isn't affected so I'm good to go. I always wanted to see the fully uncut version so this works out fine until PJ decides to get off his butt and do a legit release. Even when that happens I'm still going to use this box.

Unless you plan to sell it. But As far as Dead Alive goes, if you haven't sold it by now. You probably have no interest in doing so to begin with.
For me it is because I have a backlog and only unseal the title when I am ready to watch it (unless it is a disc where I have heard there may be a disc problem).

This has actually worked in my benefit quite a few times, (The Big Heat most recently), as a better version becomes available either here or in the UK and I can sell my original version sealed for more money.

I always used to open my discs as soon as I bought them; at a point when I was selling some of my collection, I felt kind of stupid that some discs I had literally never watched were much less valuable simply because they were open. So, in the rare instance that I buy a movie new even though I'm not sure I want to keep it, something I could go either way on but I grab during a sale, maybe to goose the order to free shipping or whatever... in cases like that, I will leave the movie sealed. Not because I'm planning to re-sell it for a profit necessarily, but so that if, in a year or two, it's still sealed, then I know "I guess I don't really need that one." It also makes me hesitate on future purchases in a positive way. I only do it for things that are in the price range of Criterion, Twilight Time, etc., so I guess re-selling is somewhere in my head, but it's not the priority.

Grabbed the new Blu-ray version from Amazon Spain. Took almost 2-weeks to get to me in PA and it looks great!

Yes, there is a little grain and some spots, but over-all looks and sounds great!

https://www.amazon.es/Braindead-madr...rds=dead+alive

After shipping to the states to total came to about $22. Totally worth it.

Oh, and it is region free!!! Has a menu, a couple extras. Starts in Spanish, so you'll need to switch to English and lose the subtitles.

I didn't know about this spanish release, but judging from the comments on Amazon it's the US unrated version on it.

Cost me less than 21 US shipped! This will definitely suffice until we get the version approved by Peter Jackson.

That would be the NZ/Australian and European version called Braindead. The US version always was the slightly shorter cut called Dead Alive.

Has anyone confirmed the Spanish Blu-ray has the longer Braindead cut? I'd like to get this, but I'm waiting for someone here to verify first.

So you have the disc and confirmed it, or you're assuming it's that cut based on the Amazon comments?

I'm guessing it's actually 97 minutes, I'm not finding any references to a 93-minute version:

If they made it 25 fps (which does happen in Europe on blu-ray...) then that would account for the time difference.

Seems like a bootleg release, in 1080i (probably 25 fps):

I have the Blu-ray version from Spain right in front of me. I watched it and nothing seemed cut, from what I remember watching years ago.

The case says 97 minutes on it.

The transfer is actually decent for the film. The best I have ever seen it, but the last time I watched it was on VHS.

The disc starts playing in Spanish with English subs, just need to make it English & turn off the subs. No big deal. Looks and sounds great.

Any other questions I can answer? Again, I own, have watched, and have right in front of me the new Spain Blu-ray Region Free copy.

I'm in PA, shipped it cost about 22$ US. Not bad at all!

What running time does your player show? Is the scene with the nurse, the priest and the rake in it?
