I'll only buy used if it's no longer available new. It shouldn't really matter, but I'm so OCD about the condition of my collection that I can't stand the imperfections that come with second-hand products. Heck, I can't stand the imperfections of new items.
Fine, I've got a toast. To the Captain, he's the best... at being a big jerk who's stupid and his big ugly face is as dumb as a butt!

Here in the UK, CEX seems to be the main high street outlet offering (usually) decent priced blu rays. However the condition (of the box) can be very much hit or miss.

Yeah they tend to be very sloppy and get their fingers all over the discs.

One of my concerns when buying games (that are no longer in print and only used) is if it's at CeX to check how the case, cover and disc are so if the condition doesn't please me I just reject it.

I have never bought from their online store as I have heard truly horror stories. I always go into one of their branches to check out the stock.

I think CeX is currently one of the greatest used video shops ever but I agree with you 100 percent. Great store to walk in but it seems highly sloppy and inefficient to order online from.

Yeah the bulk of my collection is from Cex, I found if you poke behind the Blus you find flawless steels and slips. I have had a few things from there in not so great nick but they are usually the boxes for sets (which doesn't really matter to me) and regular cases (which also doesn't really matter to me), although I have seen a few where the cover art is clearly fake, I can't believe they were ever accepted.
Favourites of 2015, So Far (in descending order and UK release dates apply): 4) Jupiter Ascending. 3) Clown. 2) John Wick. 1) Kingsman: The Secret Service.

Cex are great for cheap postage. You can order as many blus as you want with only 2.50 postage.

The last time I ordered from them, I ordered five dvds. Three of which arrived with the discs rattling out of the placeholders.

But then again I've ordered some OOP titles for brilliant prices (the Arrietty Collector's Edition for 12 which is 30+ on Amazon, the Fukasaku Trilogy which I bought for 12 and is 40+ on Amazon)

I know four people who work in the Cex store, back in my hometown, and they have the easiest job on the planet. One had a half an hour conversation with me as they were "looking for titles". Despite how easy their job is, the stores seem to have pretty bad customer services. When I was 19, they ID'd me for a 15, multiple times! Even though there is no-one in line I still wait 10 minutes to get served, just because there is a guy with a laptop infront of me. The store looks tacky as well (like Poundland crossed with a large red Public Bathroom). I'm also pissed because they rejected my job application and hired a blue-haired, angry bimbo instead. That would have helped with my uni fees.

It's what I call the simultaneous marmite effect (I love it and hate it).

I've just ordered my very first second hand blu-ray.

"Sex & Zen" (for 14 EUR) from an Amazon France seller.

It's available new from Amazon France for 18 EUR, but they only offer "national shipping" (France only). The cheapest Amazon France seller with "international shipping" sells a new copy for 50 EUR ( => a bit steep).

Thanks. I'm in the US. I have about 100 used BRs I'd like to trade for other Bluray discs. Is there any place anyone would recommend that let's you trade? I imagine they don't trade 1 to 1 but even if they took 2 for every one disc they exchanged, I'd be OK with that. I'm looking for some less common ones. I have mostly the big budget title BR discs.

If it matters, the titles I'm currently looking for are -
A Guy Thing
Awakening, The
Bachelor Party
Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman
Black Panther - Marvel Knights
Blind Date
Clueless
Cutting Edge, The
Darkness Falls
Hellboy - Blood & Iron
Hellboy - Sword of Stones
Henry V (1989)
Immortality
ink
Intolerable Cruelty
Jim Gaffigan Beyond the Pale
Justice League: Doom
Justice League: The New Frontier
Lake Placid 2
Overboard
Phenomenon
Prince of Darkness (1987)
Rush Hour 2
Superman - Doomsday
Superman vs. The Elite
Superman: Brainiac Attacks
Waiting
Weekend at Bernie's
Wonder Woman

Default PreOwned

I am fine with Pre Owned bd's - of course being in pristine condition helps..

Any online reputable sellers tat accepts credit cards??

I used to frequent Bluray4everyone or something like tat but international shipping became prohibitive..

I am mixed in my feelings towards 2nd hand blu-rays, dvds, and cds. I used to love FYE but my local FYE (Ocala Florida) takes back complete crap. I bought a few used CDs and I popped them open in the parking lot and all of them looked as if they had been scraped with coarse sand paper. UNREADABLE. Went back in and had to fight about it. I remember a several years ago 2010-2012 I couldn't trade in anything in less than perfect shape, and to the point of a new CD, never played but the hub for it had broken and they wouldn't take it back used (I bought 2 copies by mistake). FYE sucks around here.
Amazon and ebay are sketchy. People interpret Like New to be chewed up, while others rate their product as acceptable and it is minty fresh.

My local record store is amazing though. Everything is immaculate. Aside from their price stickers being mixed bag of it peels off or it leaves every ounce of glue on the case. Great Prices.
110$ got me 4 Grindhouse Releasing titles, 1 Arrow, 5 shout/scream factory, 2 HBO movies , 2 mainstream movies (4 marked as used, but were still shrink wrapped), The Prodigy's new CD (New), and a new copy of Dark Haul for $1.95.
MovieStop is a mixed bag too. Location is key, Pootie Tang $4 used but very good, cheapest copy on Amazon is 11$ used last I checked. scored a few OOP titles as well for under 10$.

My only opposition to buying used is that the money does not go back into the hands of the manufacturer. Particularly, the small labels, its not a sale for them. But with 30+$ retailing price and slim availability in some areas, I have to look out for number 1. If it looks new, good shape, and better price than I anticipate finding them new, I'm game.

I only buy second hand if i am getting a bargain. Picked up the Twilight Time release of The Driver for less than half it's retail value on Ebay recently for example.

Most of mine are used. I like getting a good deal. I get them in very good to like new condition. They usually have slip covers, inserts and usable UV codes. As long as they're decent looking, I don't care.
These days I don't buy much but I'll take advantage of a big sale for back catalog titles and dvd upgrades. The few new blockbuster movies that I really like every year I buy new (6 a year at most) day one, especially for a cool steelbook or other limited edition goodies.
Samsung UN55F6400 TV
Sony STR-DN1000 Receiver
Klipsch KB-15 + KC-25 Icon & Quintet Synergy Speakers/350w SUB
Sony BDP-S185 Blu-ray Player

I've had no disappointments buying used blu-rays so far. Their improved durability makes it a safe bet. Especially on back catalog DVD upgrades for Region A, I see no reason not to get the best price possible. There are very few brick and mortar places near me so Amazon Marketplace and ebay are where I buy my used titles, and Amazon Marketplace is all GoHastings and the like.
