Watch the thing on the T2 UE dvd which shows how they transfer Super35 to a 2.35 image, and then to a 4X3 one. Sometimes it is simply open matte, but lots of stuff going on in a short scene on that demo, which I cannot find on youtube at the moment.

Not gonna quote multiple posts so I'll just flat out say it:

The full screen shows the flight scenes/jets better than widescreen. The widescreen makes the action (ya know, the stuff you're pretty much here for) almost impossible to follow. I don't need my childhood classic looking and feeling like a modern day style action movie, thank you. So I'll take the supposed "extra" information if it means seeing those Tomcats from top to bottom.

To Tyler:
It's a good thing for you that you never saw your childhood classic in the theaters, when it first came out. The blu-ray's framing is EXACTLY what it would have looked like on opening day in 1986 in your friendly neighborhood multiplex. You would have had such a hard time seeing what was going on

And YOU can't chance facts. You're entitled to your opinion but, in this case, your opinion has nothing to do with the facts.

This isn't about "beliefs" or what "one person says." Do you need people to start posting 35mm scans of prints before you get it?

No one cares about your opinion. Just don't pretend that your "opinion" is based on anything other than your own viewpoint.

Facts are facts. But, hey, doubling down on ignorance is big these days. Enjoy your opinion.

Lol, ok, rephrase: "I don't care about facts". The fact is, that's how I watched the movie as a kid, hundreds of times, and thus, that's how the movie is "supposed' to look to me. I'll put the word "supposed" in quotes to appease you guys who won't let this go.

If that's supposed to change my viewpoint, you'll have to try harder, lol. Though I am a big Dana Carvey fan. Must've watched that stand up special from '95 about 100 times back in the day. Taught me how to do a pretty good Jimmy Stewart impression to.

Make sure you only watch it on VHS. Cuz that's how it's supposed to look.

Oh, no. You've made it very clear that you don't understand what Super 35 is, nor do you have any interest in learning about it. I'm tyring to get you to move on. You keep telling us how you "don't care", yet you inexplicably keep responding.

I got an old dvd that has both versions. The altered color timing with it's heavy yellow push on the later dvds and blus can S my D.

Never said I didn't care. Easily fixable ignorance absolutely bothers me.

I'm too drunk to understand what that means right now. But I will say this, that video I posted was from 4 months ago, and you 2 came at me today like I had just said it recently. I had forgotten about it completely until getting an email saying thre was a response in this thread. So as far as I'm concerned, you both brought this on yourselves by bringing it up like it was something I had just said recently, which I didn't. Not sure if that's what you mean by whatever it is that bothers you.

Anyway, say what you want about director's intentions. If George Lucas' abortion that he's performed to the original trilogy, along with public opinion towards it is any indication, I could not care less about whatever the director's original intentions are. Be it towards aspect ratio, or otherwise.
