Default Looking for a 4k player

I have been out of the loop for a couple years. I am looking for get a native 4k blu ray player. Does not need to be high end, but would prefer it to be compact/slim size. Would also like metal housing.

Basically looking for the following:
-4k Native
-Compact
-Metal housing

Is there such a combination out there?

Massdrop had the Sony 800 on sale back in Jan for 120.00 shipped. So might want to keep an eye out if they have another listing for it.

I got it on eBay for $170 with an HDMI cable. $120 would have been nice!

I bought the x800. Love it. Although, there are problems. This thing gets random freezes and I'm already looking to upgrade to something else because the lack of DV support is disappointing.

Always open to suggestions, looks like few new players coming out this year, including the Panasonic UB820 looks interesting. $170 cant be beat for a player that cost $300 a year ago.

Yeah you have to keep an eye open for the sales. I knew it could be had cheaper, but I was impatient and bought it at $249. I love it though.

If you can drop the metal housing part the X700 is quite a bit more compact and will (probably) get a firmware update to support Dolby Vision that the X800 won't get if that matters to you. It doesn't matter to me, I prefer the superior feel and standard component width of the X800 and I won't have a Dolby Vision compatible TV anytime in the near future.

I have the x800, I don't need Dolby vision because I have a Samsung qled. Kinda stupid tho that the x700 gets the upgrade and the x800 doesn't...

I got the player, but its the UX80. Is there a difference between the x800 and ux80? From what Im reading they seem the same. Maybe different markets?

All 4K Blu-ray players are native, it's the UHD Blu-rays that are 2K digital intermediate (upscaled), and the selected native 4K releases.
