EWW, those eyes! I don't know what they were thinking, they just look so weird!

"But she has big eyes in the manga so it's fine" some will say.

By that logic, this "movie" is a good adaptation.

Just because something looks good as a two-dimensional drawing, or even in 3d animation, that doesn't mean it will look good at all in live-action.

Besides, most drawn/animated characters have big eyes, but that doesn't mean a live-action adaption has to reflect that.

With all that being said, I do hope Alita: Battle Angel turns out to be good.
But much like the your name remake, I'm not getting my hopes up.

I Loved GitS and found it a good mashup of the two anime films, it wasn't a straight up adaptation of the manga & never tried to be. I think that was its handicap

+1 On the live-action GITS. Ghost in the Shell was a gateway anime for me back in the late 90s so I was especially hesistant, but I ended up getting a lot of enjoyment from the adaptation. There are some nice callbacks to the source, but it's not a slavish copy either. It's more style than substance, but if you turn off your brain for a couple of hours it's a great action flick.

Ewww, indeed. I think I'm going to have nightmares just from watching the trailer.

And there's every reason to hope these stupid live action remakes fail. If they fail, maybe they'll stop making them.

The only good live action anime remake is the Rurouni Kenshin Trilogy- the fights kick serious ass, the narrative is streamlined to fit the film medium effectively, the acting is superb, and there is a clear passion for the original material that flows throughout.

FUNimation has a Blu-ray release of the trilogy (each sold separately, though... god that sounds like a commercial) with better picture quality than Warner’s UK releases (which were on BD 25s, these are BD 50s), so it’s worth the purchase. Plus, the subtitles are more accurate than Warner’s release, I believe.
Retro always wins!

Eh, the Kenshin films weren't that good. Really hated how Usui got treated.

The Lone Wolf and Cub series is the best live-action remake IMO. 'Baby Cart at the River Styx' is amazing.

Has the UK version been re-authored already? If so, how is it looking now?

Oh OK, thanks. I thought they said they were going to get it fixed by around Christmas time but perhaps not.

Remember that Thai limited edition?

The box has a built-in speaker that plays music when the cover is slid open. It plays music box versions of Nandemonaiya, Zen Zen Zense and Sparkle.

YES YES YES! I just got my package yesterday and I was pleasantly surprised when the music started playing!

However, I do have 2 issues... the bottle is smaller than I thought it would be and I can't find the sketch of the town... So they may have omitted it...

This was actually the first blu-ray I bought. Purely because I heard so much about it that I couldn't resist getting it. XD

I work at a movie theater, so the night I picked it up I played it on the big screen XD

Next I wanna pick up a nice copy of 5 Centimeters Per Second to see more by the director.
