I am sure that this has been asked a thousand times, but how would I go about getting a studio name added to the database. I'm trying to get Massacre Video added.

Generally speaking photographs aren't usually accepted unless they're photographed to look like studio-art. Below is the studio-art for the title in question.

I couldn't find title in the database, so I'm not sure if it's waiting to be approved. I'd (if I were you) upload the picture above and if you have a scanner you could scan the back cover and submit that.

Thx but yeah I just posted pic here to show what I was trying to add. Hopefully it's still awaiting approval if I did it correctly.

Default How To Add DVDs to the Database

I have been making submissions recently to the DVD database. On any DVD title I find the [ADD NEW MOVIE] link. I usually use data from Amazon and IMDb to fill in information.

I have also been adding information like synopses to titles by finding the [EDIT MOVIE] link.

There many foreign movies not listed in this database for some reason.

A better question to follow up this thread is: How can I add a picture to the title in the database?

After I make a submission, the title appears available the next day though the cover image is still blank.

If you submitted the images as you posted, they will probably be rejected due to them being tagged. I believe all tagged images are rejected.

If sales are good for Arrow Video's Sullivan's Travels then we might get a boxed set of Preston Sturges films from Arrow!

I was adding a ton of Anime DVD's (608). I tried using the export from Movie Collectorz and as far as I can tell it worked. There are not a lot of Anime titles, so I did submit the entire library I had a the time. I recently checked and saw none of the titles show up at all. Does it have to be verified by someone first and if so...how much time??? I can always upload pics later on, but if someone can shed some light on this I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

So when adding a title to the database it will depend on which EAN is entered first as to whether the ASIN duplicate error is received from the system.

For example:

Shark Tale

EAN 5051189124235
ASIN B0007CTL06

My copy has an EAN of 5050583018744 if I enter that into Amazon I get the ASIN of B0007CTL06 which is the same as Orsie's entry.

So it depends on who comes first as to whether they get they're ASIN entry in. Amazon seem to update release dates, which can also cause confusion:

Shark Tale
EAN 5051189124235
Release 03/07/2006

Shark Tale
EAN 5050583018744
Release 28/11/2005

Amazon seem to have a 11/02/2005 release date which according to the BVA is the Rental release date!

I know the system stops duplicate entries and that's a good thing but is there a way around it perhaps allowing multiple (or alternate) EAN's for identical ASIN titles? That way members can put their films in and give other members ASIN links to their title. Or should members just subtitle each release after the 1st entry, say '2005 release' or '2006 release' (and not enter the ASIN)?

Any advice would be appreciated!
Has the issue of multiple EANs been resolved? Do I just create a duplicate with a different EAN?

I think you still get an error message for a duplicate ASIN, you can now enter duplicate titles for DVDs without the need for a subtitle but you'd have and entry with no link to Amazon, as the ASIN field would have to be left empty.

Thanks chip75. I'm finding that a few of my DVDs have different EANs to the ones you entered originally.

I'd suggest putting the new or alternative EAN in the EAN comment section of the titles in question, that way members who go to add the title will see that there's a single ASIN for multiple EANs. That way we won't get multiple entries for single ASINs. The alternative is to add the Zavvi ID but it's not ideal as it won't appear on the deals banner.

What I may do is create a duplicate, check with EAN returns the ASIN on an Amazon search and then ensure the right EAN has the ASIN. I'll leave comment on the one without an ASIN that this is the case.
