Well, I finally got the time to begin watching this set (in the BD order ). Although really disappointed with how low the audio volume is, I'm stunned by the PQ - so much better than I've ever seen these episodes.

One bummer : after watching Where No Man Has Gone Before, I tried the special "unlocked" version in "Starfleet Access". The PIP activated, but no matter what I tried doing, I couldn't hear the audio of the people talking in the PIP.

Memphis : But far more fortunate are those who are lucky enough to be loved.

Remember, folks : it's only 1 day - and the deals are rolling now - until Black Friday!!!

Check to ensure the "BD Audio" setting in your Blu-ray player is set to "Mix" rather than "Direct" otherwise you won't get interactive or secondary (PIP) audio.

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, my Oppo doesn't seem to have either "Mix" or "Direct". In the Audio Format Setup there is a "Secondary Audio" section, but it's grayed out & set to Off. Nothing I've attempted has "un-grayed" it & allowed access. Baring a discovery, I'll have to call Oppo Monday. Rats.

Not sure what model Oppo you have, but perhaps the FAQ item I found here might be helpful.

Is your player set to bitstream? as I believe it needs to be set to PCM before you can use the secondary audio track.

That did it, Indiana Jones! You guys are great! I've got a BDP-103 and it doesn't have an SAP button, plus all the color buttons haven't worked so far on this set - just get the red slashed "No" circle (nor do I have an "angle" button although various posters have here have mentioned using it ). But as soon as I changed from Bitstream to 192k LPCM, the Secondary Audio un-grayed and I could turn it "On". I'll still have to check with Oppo because I'd swear I set it to Bitstream at their recommendation to solve an earlier problem. Perhaps it was at someone else's suggestion and perhaps I'll just have to reset for different circumstances. In any case, thanks for the help, guys. Hope I can return the favor some day.

I caved in and bought the Star Trek: The Original Series, Three-Season Pack Blu-ray set just now, since I saw it for $68.99 on Amazon.

It's funny, because I was eyeing this three-season set yesterday when it was $84.99 on Amazon, and I was debating pulling the trigger even then. I'm glad that I waited.

I know that this is not the absolute lowest price that we've seen for this box set, and there's a great chance that the price will dip even lower later this month or next month, but right now happens to be a convenient time for me to shell out the above amount of money.

It'll be a while before I have a chance to dive into these original seasons, but I have fond memories of watching the episodes with my brother during the syndications back in the 1980s, and I'm looking forward to seeing how many of the episodes that I still remember.
