In what ways is the Canadian release better?

It includes the 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track for Oldboy. The US trilogy disc only has lossy audio that pales in comparison according to reviews.

If you're lucky. It's not the easiest to get a response from Tartan, and who knows if the replacement program is still active since the US set is OOP, and Kino is handling distribution now. Better to just get the Canadian version, rather than deal with all that.

If that is the only reason the set is better then I'm all good. I got the replacement disc pretty much immediately after contacting them way back then. If I remember correctly what they did was ship everyone a copy of the previously released Oldboy BD.

Anyone know what the score is with the UK set? It's only three discs, should I assume it's just the old individual UK releases, and is therefore missing the Oldboy special features?

Is the only reason the candian version is better is because of the audio?

Pretty much. Although it is significantly better audio (7.1 lossless on the Canadian, compared to the old 5.1 lossy track on the US set)

The quirk is, there were two US editions: a two-disc set (one of them was a DVD, I believe), with the film and 7.1 on Disc 1 and "Autobiography of Oldboy" on the DVD. Then there was a re-release that featured all the SD video extras on the Blu-Ray, but only 5.1 lossy. The Canadian is the best of both worlds: all the SD video extras on the one disc plus 7.1.

Autobiography of Oldboy wasn't on the DVD that came with the original US release; it's only available in the US and Canadian trilogy sets.

The original US Blu featured the 7.1 audio, with the commentaries and deleted scenes on the first disc (a BD-50), and most of the special features on a DVD-9.

The Trilogy set BD in the US features the movie and a lossy track, Autobiography of Oldboy, and the original DVD-9 special features all crammed on one disc.

The Canadian release then somehow manages to also cram the 7.1 lossles track on there as well.

Can anyone explain the runtime of Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance to me? The UK Blu-ray is only 121 minutes, while Wiki (and this site) state it should have a 129 minute runtime.

However, Movie-Censorship has nothing on alternate cuts, and the BBFC state that they passed the film uncut back in '03 or something.

It's certainly not an NTSC/PAL thing, as the Blu is 1080p and is not being sped-up like a UK DVD would be, so I'm baffled as to where these cuts are. IMDB states that the film is 129 minutes, with a 121 minute UK cut, and a 117 min Japanese cut, but there's nothing there about differences to the film.

I was given this collection (slip case edition) and it was missing the 32 page booklet. After contacting them several months ago they claimed it was a common complaint and that a 3rd party was responsible for packaging which resulted in the loss of the booklet.
I was told one would be sent out to me.
Fast forward about 3 months and there was no sign of anything so i contacted them again and got the same promise.
I don't suppose anyone knows if someone is sitting on a pile of booklets somewhere that is willing to part with one?
