I went from a 720p 32" LCD to a 1080p 55" LED. I haven't really bothered to re-watch everything, mainly just the new stuff I've bought since I originally made the display upgrade. It does make for one hell of a difference though, especially after I calibrated it.
I don't have any type of surround sound system, but even the sound from the 32" TV speakers to the 55" TV speakers made for a nice update since I was able to tweak some custom audio settings on my 55" which I couldn't do with my 32". |

I'm guilty of rewatching most of my movies. For the past 3 yrs or so, I had an LG 37" 720p LCD. I recently purchased a 55" LED 3D LG so I couldn't wait to pop in my favorite films. My oh my what a thing of beauty!

I have so many films that I only plan to really watch my favorites when I upgrade.
I think I got my PS3 around September 2008, and I was using a 1080i CRT from 2001. My CRT started having issues, so we upgraded to a 65" Laservue DLP and once we set it up we put in Casino Royale because that's easily one of my favorite Blu's to demo with and it's a great movie. I love using Casino Royale because it opens with black and white and it just looks so clear but still film like, then the fights scenes has that high contrast look that really shows off the grain, and then the animated titles sequence has so many vibrant colors and everything is really sharp, clear and smooth in the animation but still very lush and detailed and then it finally ends in color and you get some really nice outdoors scenes. It's like they designed the first ten minutes of that movie to pop on Blu-ray. |

One upside to having lazy eye in my right eye is that I will never need to upgrade to a 3D television or to 3D movies. Just bigger and better 2D screens in my future, so the need to rewatch the whole collection will not be quite as pressing.

I didn't rewatch all my movies, but i definitely checked out the ones with the best transfers when i got my kuro in 2009. I upgraded from 40" samsung LCD and difference was OMG huge. Till this day i still randomly put on movies just to see how it looks on the 60" kuro. Actually i might do that tonight.

Upgrading your display can be like getting new transfers.
However, I did find that some discs that I thought looked pretty good on my previous display did not look as good on my new display. But, some discs that looked good previously, now looked great. You get more transparent to the source (for good or bad) when you upgrade and properly calibrated. |

I upgraded to my 55" Panasonic 3D LED HDTV on Black Friday and it is noticeably better than my previous 46" Sharp for sure. I have watched several titles over again on the new display and notice a difference for sure. I will not however be buying anymore 1080p displays unless one breaks as I will now wait for 4K displays. I figure 4 1080p displays in the house are more than enough.

Guess I don't watch the whole collection, just a handful of scenes that I have used to kinda guage contrast, shadow detail, skin tones etc..
For instance in Blade Runner you have that dark scene where Rachael comes to Deckards apartment, its very dimly lit and really pushes the ability of a projector show shadow detail. You can have everything set for contrast and brightness from a test disc, still load that scene and still see details washed out in the black. Great time to do some chronic adjusters stuff. That said, I buy a new projector or new display and I'll end up on the same scenes I have studied over and over again.

I wouldn't say I've felt like that in years. I've had HD TV's for some time and when I upgrade models, I don't have the same feeling I had when I went from a CRT to an SXRD.
3D was an awesome addition to my home theater, but it really did not make me want to buy every single title and rewatch the films either. I guess I'm getting picky.... "I wanted Uhura to kick ass. I don't care if I'm kicking or punching something or someone, I just wanted her to sort of be a little more physical."

For me, definetily. After having my first HD tv not too long ago that made me start collecting Blu-Rays, the tv broke. So then I had to start using a regular tv, but still bought Blu's. Now after buying another HD tv with Christmas money, I really, REALLY want to go back and watch all my Blu's in HD including the ones I just bought!!!

For 9 months I used to watch my blurays on SD TV and when I switched to HD I just watched the ones I didn't see before. It is really not my thing to watch the same movie twice in a given year unless friends request a viewing of that particular film.
But to watch the whole collection? There's not enough time with the amount of hours I work. I gotta find the time to go out, to play xbox, to go to bars, to go to the gym, and to spend time with family or just hang out with friends.
