Have player set to PCM. DSD Output Mode - Off BD Audio mix setting - On DTS Neo:6 - Off Audio DRC - Off Down Mix - Surround

Also noticed that my BD of Star Trek Into Darkness also gives me PCM 2.0

any other sugestions
Player should be set to AUTO and BD Audio Mix should be set to OFF. Sorry, I messed up with my last post.

Now are these settings you are suggesting recommendations for a receiver or everyday settings KISSAnimal? I ask because I don't have mine hooked up to any sound system downstairs, but I do have it hooked up to a soundbar upstairs.
Do you really have something to say or are you just in love with the sound of your keyboard?

Everyday settings. You won't get anything but PCM if you have the player set to PCM. You have to be bitstreaming to get the actual audio. So set the output to AUTO. Audio Mix setting needs to be OFF as well.

Turn off Auto DRC, it affects your equalization.

Thanks, I assume this won't affect my streaming apps like Netflix or Pandora? Appreciate the assist. I'll try and set my BD player that's hooked up upstairs when I get a chance.

Nope, it won't affect those at all.

I can confirm this setting to get DD and DTS. Specifically turning off BD Audio Mix. Can't tell you how long I went with PCM on my S590.

I'm looking for a reason to upgrade to the S5100 ($80) or S5200 ($138), but my S590 has been a champ for the past year. Only issue is loud humming from time to time. I've read a little in here about the S590 crapping out after that.

Anyone compared the S5100 & S5200? I can't find that thread yet.

Thanks again. I can't tell if it is wishful thinking or what? But I swear that I'm already hearing a difference. Doesn't seem to be much of a need to turn the audio up very much since I did the adjustments.

Just picked up a S5100 a few days ago. I'm having a problem with DTS support. I'm referring to standard DTS, not the newer DTS-HD. The equipment the S5100 is connected to is an old Sony STR-DB930 receiver via the coaxial connection and a Samsung LN46B750 TV via HDMI. DTS on DVDs plays fine, the DB930 shows DTS as the audio type. If I play any type of file (mkv, mpg, vob, etc) that has a DTS track from a USB drive or DLNA the DB930 will only show PCM as the audio type. I tried changing the audio settings in the S5100, but haven't been able to figure out why DTS is not being sent to the receiver when played from a file (USB or DLNA).

I borrowed a Sony BDP-S470. Connected it exactly the same as I had the S5100. DTS 5.1 audio plays fine from DVDs. Used a VOB file off of a concert DVD that has a DTS 5.1 track. USB and DLNA both played the DTS track just fine.

So, what is causing the S5100 to send the DTS track as PCM to my receiver?

I don't really want to have to buy a new "modern" receiver that accepts HDMI to see if it fixes this. My Sony DB930 has been a great receiver even though it's gettin' pretty old!

The firmware on my unit is M15.R.0172.

My audio setting are...

Digital Audio Output = Auto
DSD Output Mode = Off
BD Audio Mix Settings = Off
DTS Neo 6 = Off
Audio DRC = Off
Downmix = Stereo

I have tinkered with all of these settings.

I have a Sony 1000W 3D Blu Ray Home Theater in a box system connected to a Sony BDP- S5100 region free blu ray player and I was wondering if someone could help me with the audio settings where they should be? Over a year ago I was playing with the home theater that was connected to a PS3, I put in The Dark Knight on blu ray and those click and hiss sound effects on the menu weren't playing I don't know if it was the settings of the PS3 but I don't have it anymore, but I just want everything to be where it is supposed to. Also when I'm watching a blu ray movie on the Sony BDP-S5100 region free player and I hit display on the home theater remote it says on the screen, HDMI1 LPCM 5.1ch 48kHz 576 Kbps, but the audio of the movie is English DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1ch 48kHz, shouldn't it say that on the home theater display?

Setup: Audio Settings: BD Audio Mix Setting Set whether to mix interactive audio and output. On or Off?

Audio DRC: Auto, On or Off?

Attenuate-Audio: On or Off?

Audio Output: Speaker, Speaker+ HDMI, or HDMI?

Sound Effect: Sound Mode On, Dolby Pro Logic, DTS Neo:6 Cinema, DTS Neo:6 Music, or Off?

Setup Audio Settings for the Sony BDP-S5100 region free blu ray player:

Digital Audio Output: Auto or PCM?

DSD Output Mode: On or Off?

BD Audio Mix Setting: On or Off?

DTS Neo:6: Cinema, Music, or Off?

Audio DRC: Auto, On, or Off?

Downmix: Surround, Stereo, or Off?

If anyone can help I would really appreciate it

Thanks.

My region free S5100 is suddenly not playing Region 2 discs after the last firmware update. It's odd because I got it from 220 Electronics, who supposedly use hardware region changes to prevent just such a thing from happening.

I called to notify them I will be seeking a refund or exchange but they have not responded yet. NOT happy.

Unhappy Streaming Freeze

Hi,
I'm a noob and I'm hoping someone can help me.
I just got the BDP-S5100 and it worked great until I tried to stream video from my laptop.
Everything works for around 2 to 4 minutes then freezes up. I have to stop/start or rewind and then play. after that the cycle begins again. Every 2 to 4 minutes it freezes.
I know its not my media servers because they work excellent on my PS3, but I'm trying to save my PS3 for gaming only and use the BDP-S5100 for my Blu-ray and streaming needs.
Does anyone have any hints on how I can get the freezing to stop?

Note: All firmware is up to date
I've used
PS3 Media Server 1.90.1
Plex Media Server
XBMC
Serviio
and all have the same problem.
Thanks
