Hi,
Made the plunge into the HD realm last week with a new TV and a Blu-Ray player. I first bought the LG BP-330. I didn't like the app designs and so I decided to try the 530. That thing crashed repeatedly and couldn't maintain a connection to my network. After 6 hours of irritation, I took it right back. Then I tried the Samsung F5900. And mostly, I like this player, but it doesn't seem to support wireless N, and as such is far too slow to stream anything. I couldn't stream anything without constant buffering and having the stream readjust the bitrate. It's worthless to me for that reason. So before I jump back in and buy another player, I thought I'd ask if one of you could point me to a player specifically with the features I need. Obviously I need a device with Wireless N support. I live in an old house and the router is far from where my TV is, so I can't connect via LAN. I have 20+MB broadband, and a desktop in this same room that routinely tests at 21+MB downloads, so I have sufficient speeds for streaming wirelessly. I need a device that supports Hulu+ as I have a subscription. Other networks are a plus (and I'm considering subscribing to Fandor), but not necessary. I need a device that supports a wide variety of file-types. MKV, M4V, MP4, AVI are all a must. Preferably, support for SRT subtitle files as well. I'm looking for a unit around $150. My thought was maybe I should just get a cheap player and then grab a Roku for streaming, but I'd really like an all-in-one unit if such a unit exists with these features. Any help would be appreciated! EDIT: Might want to specify that I'm in the US. Last edited by LightIntoEarth; 04-05-2013 at 03:49 PM. |

In another thread, a few people had praise for the Sony S5100. It looks like a really good player, supports all the video formats mentioned (not sure about srt though), has a lot of apps, strong Wi-Fi, and it's under $140. Its's the 3rd bestselling player on Amazon currently.

Hi.
I have a panasonic viera. I think its a panasonic viera 42pv8d A 42 inch (I think). I wanted to buy a blu ray player, but im not sure which one. I am willing to spend upto $ 380 (U.S dollars).I wanted a blu ray player which is region free, plays blu ray dvds in very high quality and I also want it to play normal dvds. Should I buy a blu ray dvd which plays 4k resolution. Eg. Samsung’s BD-F7500 ? And will 4k resolution blu ray players play normal blu ray discs into 4k resolution or are there special blu ray dvds with 4k resolution. Thanks |

So I'm in the market for a new player and wondering if anyone has any suggestions? I had a Vizio VBR231 and was pretty happy until the apps stopped working. While I'd love another Vizio I am open to other players. Here are the specs of what I'm looking for and my price point($142 w/tax) Wireless streaming for Netflix, Pandora and if possible Amazon Prime? Since I don't have a 3D television I don't need a 3D player. Any help would be appreciated.
Do you really have something to say or are you just in love with the sound of your keyboard?
