Just watched this for first time in many years. I'd forgotten how great it is. On to Into Darkness next. Haven't seen thst one since my IMAX 3D screening, which was a total blast.

Did anyone upgrade their bd to the 4k uhd version of this movie? Was wondering if you thought it was a worthy investment.

Just did that today. I intend to watch it in 4K when I get a UHD display later this year.

I just bought a 4k Sony TV last week and have an hdmi 2.0a/hdcp 2.2 compliant receiver that I purchased a few months back. Just waiting on the new Sony ES 4k uhd player releasing in March. I've bought a half dozen plus 4k uhd discs in anticipation based on upgrade reviews. Sounds like you're doing the same thing.

I thought this and Into Darkness were pretty lackluster on UHD honestly, but others would tell you the opposite. Seems to depend on the person. They messed with the color and vibrancy of them and '09 has a lot of compression artifacts.

Thanks. It seems like there are a lot of differing opinions. I wonder how much each person's home theater set up has to do with it. It seems uhd outcomes are heavily based on hardware.

It does depend on the TV and settings you use to some extent. Some in that forum section are boosting contrast and color out the wazoo to make up for HDR being darker, which leads to skewed results. Some like myself don't have a TV with great HDR, which can skew things a bit. You also have normal color temp, sharpness, etc. differences that effect BD impressions in this section too. Then you also have common preference differences, some like real film, some like crystal clear digital images.

Still, I think it can objectively be said that '09 has compression issues. You just might not notice them, depending. It can also be objectively said Into Darkness at least is a lot warmer, with less contrast and vibrancy, but again you might not notice depending on settings, or might like the change.

I have all three on UHD but haven't watched 09 yet. ID and Beyond were worth the upgrade, especially Beyond.
