If you intend to watch on 1080/24p, then it does not matter, picture quality should be identical. If not (1080/60p) differences are so minimal especially when watching HD. However, the 790 is much, much, much faster and has apps. It is up to you.

I came here to see if other people were haing "Unknown Disc" troubles. I'm happy to know that I'm not alone. For me, the discs that won't play anymore include The Island, Delicatessen, and Apocalypse Now. Frustrating. I like Sony products, and I like the fact that the basic functions of my TV, sound bar, and player can be controlled from one Sony remote. But perhaps it's time to try something new.
