Q: I've held off on upgrading Big Jake - in part because I keep hoping it'll go on sale at some point , but also because of the real low AQ rating. For anyone who has the Blu and the DVD - is the sound really that bad on the Blu, or is it still better than the DVD? Thanks for any help!

I would also like to thank MifuneFan...excellent job on keeping us up to date on the current state of John Wayne films released to BD!

As for Big Jake, I never noticed that the current blu has poor AQ. Here is what DVDBeaver has to say about it:

Audio :
Big Jake offers two lossless original language tracks - a DTS-HD Master 5.1 (bump) at 2743 kbps and a strong stereo tracks at 1578 kbps. These push some depth and marginal separations from the Surround. Elmer Bernstein had some brilliant westerns scores - most notably The Magnificent Seven, but also The Comancheros. In Big Jake we hear some of his most aggressive and sweeping orchestral work and it comes through with notable intent via uncompressed. Wow.

btw: I just discovered one other JW bd that I had no idea had been released; in Scandanavia--Hellfighters
I also ordered a copy from the amazon seller DeeVeeDee for only like $23.
Looks like it's pretty unavailable at this point.
It's another one of those Soul Media releases; so who knows if it will be any good or not.
