Very similar in some instances although the DVD is always inferior, With AOD and I Robot the difference is massive though. The compression on all the DVD screens are terrible. I just can't watch DVD anymore.

Wow, I've never seen someone get SO ruined in a single post.

a false premise since most people watch their 46" vizio from 12-15 feet away and don't have 20/8 vision.

I would rather have the DVD in that case.
check frame 8 in I robot.

check frame 10 in Empire strikes back, in which version can you tell if Lando's eyes are open or not ?

epic fail.

This topic is just plain absurd. I mean, is this really a valid argument? Just seems really off that anyone would claim such things as certain dvds looking better than the bluray version. Even with a crappy transfer,i.e,(crush,banding,etc.) i cant see how its possible. Im also puzzled at how an upconverted dvd looks the same as a bluray.

It's all bullshit.
Is this a fair statement? Is the market really flooded with upconversions? There's only been a handful of titles listed in this thread so far and only a few are actually upconversions. If there's tons more I'd like to know what they are.

I for one could tell the difference, and I watch a lot of DVDs on my OPPO-93.

Now, with that said, I can tell the difference when I'm right on top of the screen (2-3 ft). Having someone sitting 6-12ft back, would be a lot different. Compression artifacts (butterfly effect) is a lot harder to observe the further you are from the screen.

Yeah, I mean there is NO way ROTS up scaled looks as good as the Blu-ray.

Take this for example:

PS3/Xbox 360 wishlist:
GTAV, The Last of Us, Saints Row IV, Beyond: Two Souls and Remember Me.

Original Hills Have Eyes. I saw screen compares that were identical right down to the print damage, and every review agrees it sucks and is no better than the dvd.

Crow: City of Angels - Never bothered with the blu after horrid reviews. Add in no extra features and I knew dvd was probably better for this one.

The only bd's I have skipped for crap reviews seem to come from Echo Bridge. Sure there's an exception here and there (above even), but the Dracula series are all cropped on blu as well.

These may not look better on dvd, but they look better to me as a film fan who wants to see what was intended. Wrong colors and or ratios are unforgivable on blu.

For the Crow 2: City of Angels, try the double feature, it has the director's cut and a pretty good picture, but I sold mine since I hated the film.,
