Thank you for the help, Dubstar. Much appreciated.

Can anyone confirm that the Canadian [English cover] version does in fact only have the TrueHD 5.1 and not the LPCM as well?

Again, thanks for the help.

I can indeed confirm that the Canadian English carries TrueHD, not LPCM.

So the single disc Cars blu and the combo pack have the exact same blu-ray disc? I have a copy of each but only my single disc is open. I'm thinking I would rather sell the combo pack if all of the extras and everything are the same.

I just rewatched this and it is a GREAT flick! Great picture, great sound, great voice acting - and I hadn't realized before that it was Paul Newman's final performance. Wow, an animated classic in every sense of the word!

There is a chance they'll give it a new transfer and a new 7.1 mix. Still it's hard to justify triple-dipping for that film (Greek release, US re-release and now 3D).

Now, if they gave me Ratatouille

I just have the US (don't know if it's a "re-release" or not. What's with the Greek? [Rat : US as well]

I'm waiting for that as well. Let's hope Disney releases it in 3D

I have this version of Cars:

It's probably the only Disney title I own that has LPCM 5.1 audio right on the disc. The player defaults it to the second Dolby Digital track, and because I don't have a soundbar (and my TV is 8 years old) I flicked it over to see if there was a noticeable difference since the player didn't have to switch it over for the TV to understand. There was a small volume boost, but that's about it.

Was there any particular reason for Disney putting that track on there? Or is it just because it's one of their older releases?
"A tap-dancing chicken act? Gonzo, I've never heard of anything as ridiculous as a dancing chicken."

"How about a talking frog?"

It's just because it's an older release. It's the same disc that they put out in 2007, just repackaged to tie in to Cars 2. It came out back when Disney used LPCM for lossless audio instead of DTS-HDMA.

I don't see them "remastering" Cars anytime soon. The film was already made digitally and transferred to BD directly from the source files. There's not much to improve outside of a 7.1/Atmos sound mix and a higher bitrate, neither of which is enough of an incentive to create a new disc when the original disc is absolutely fine as it is. The only reason I can see Disney/Pixar remastering the film is if they do a UHD release, in which case they might re-render the film at 4K resolutions. But Disney has not released any UHD discs yet, and they don't seem interested in doing so.
