Just noticed this at $9.99 which is usually my price point for films that I've wanted for awhile. Agree completely with the other posts about the film being emotionally draining. To say the least. Not many films can touch you in the way this one does. Great Ghibli film, but not directed by Miyazaki. Takahata directs this piece, flawlessly.

Finally, I can do something with my membership. Considering a blind buy, looks good.

Best Buy has it for $9.99 as well (and no need to spend $100 on a membership).

Usually doesn't take that long. They're a fairly large operation

That is where I put my order in for mine. It'll be here around May 6th so I'm happy. Plus I get RZ points and I don't have to be a member of Prime.

Yes, the 2005 live action TV miniseries has the story told from the Aunt's perspective and is excellent. Make sure you that one instead of the 2008 live action film.

Got mine yesterday. Might watch something a little more upbeat tonight, though.

You endure it.

I hadn't seen this since I was young and only remembered a disturbing scene from it. I watched it again as an adult last year and was devastated. Saddest movie I've ever seen. I felt like crying for a lot of it. It didn't have that effect on me when I was younger.

I watched this and Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 back-to-back. Not a smart idea!

I'll never understand why these studios cannot just do an F'ing BD 50 and up the bitrate. It makes no sense to me, especially with the other version being a top notch bitrate on Bluray. I know it doesn't matter as much for this type of film but it still comes off as cheap to me and I have a hard time wanting to pay for cheap releases the closer that 4K approaches.

Finally ordered the blu-ray from amazon. Got it in the mail the other day. I'm glad amazon had it for $9.99 as I've wanted to upgrade this for a while now. Plan to watch it again soon. Such an emotionally draining movie. Its one ofthe few movies that makes me cry. I just wish sentai included more bonus features on the blu-ray.
