So happy how smart marvel is being :bowl:

Good

Don't really care for Planet Hulk/WWH and agree that it would be a bad move for a movie (especially Avengers 3).

Personally, I hope to see a sequel that builds upon Banner controlling the Hulk. I like the potrayal of the Hulk in Avengers:EMH to be honest. He is smart enough to hold conversations and control his actions, but he lacks Banner's intellect. That makes a good balance for Hulk/Banner and could make for an interesting story (ie: he needs to be Banner to figure something out, but then needs to Hulk out to smash something).

Also, I agree with other posters: bring on Leader

The next solo Hulk movie needs to have Hulk talk. Fans dont just wait for him to smash but they also wait for his talking moments. The dude needs to talk already. Since Tony Stark has befriended Banner, I could imagine Tony Stark being the one to develop Hulk's personality and brains.

NOT intelligent-talking Hulk, please. That one just turned into a crabby tough-cracking Wolverine with pecs.
Lou Ferrigno did do probably one of the best "Hulk smash!" voices on the old 90's cartoon, and added the one or two lines we got in both movies. (And yes, his line in the Ang Lee movie was a cathartic moment of "yes, finally!") So the "classic" version can be done.

right, it's too soon to have intelligent Hulk. We need a talkative cave-man Hulk first.

It would be a huge huge mistake to do those World War Hulks or Planet Hulk movies. Hulk works best around human beings, not some other monsters and aliens.

I'm not saddened by this news, but I wouldn't mind seeing the Planet Hulk story arc on the big screen some day. It's interesting concept, and the script doesn't have to meticulously follow the comic.

In fact, one of the reasons the 70's TV series was so dreary and earthbound was that Bill Bixby insisted that the focus be about Bruce Banner and his social conflicts, even though the network was starting to smell the Christopher Reeve money and wanted to bring in "more of the kids".
The Edward Norton movie walked a nice line between Bill Bixby (the prologue copying the TV credits) and the Abomination, but to go whole fanboy-hog in one direction is to lose the other.

Remember, we're lucky we could sell the character to the mainstream at ALL, let alone go into orgies of classic-arc frenzy. That's the stuff you save for the animateds.

I always thought the 1970s/1980s superhero shows were silly not because they were earthbound but because they all had sucky villains. The Hulk show would have been awesome, taking place on Earth, if his famous villains were used. Same goes for Wonder Woman. My memory of villains from those cool tv shows from 1970s/1980s ranged from rednecks, businessmen and dictators. The only cool tv villain that I can think of is Garthe Knight from Knight Rider:

I can't think of one cool villain from Hulk, Wonder Woman, A-Team, Airwolf, and so on...

(assorted trivia rambling from there)
You wanted a 70's network TV version of the High Evolutionary? Ooo-kay.
(Insert Fox "Generation X" TV-movie joke here. )
Wouldn't that be sort of like the 70's live-action Spiderman going after the Green Goblin, though, or that TV-movie Captain America going after the Red Skull?

After the Six Million Dollar Man started fighting alien Bigfoots, every Galactica-era superhero show was starting to feel the Star Wars/Superman craze for their kids audience, and even the contemporary Wonder Woman started fighting UFO's in her last season. That was sort of Bill's point, which is why he wanted the show to avoid it.
It wasn't just the technology that needed to catch up, it was our culture that could let networks think of superheroes beyond Shazam! and Isis.

Mark Ruffalo says there are "no plans" for a Hulk-driven standalone film ahead of The Avengers sequel.

Taking to Twitter, the actor wrote: "A lot of folks have been asking about the Next Hulk. The next time you see my Hulk it will be in the Avengers2. No plans for stand alone."

That said, he notes (via Huffpo): "I am not giving up on another stand alone HULK. But it’s not in the works right now. One never knows what the future will bring."

STORY: 'Golden Age of DC Comics' Explores Superhero History

Ruffalo portrayed The Hulk as a recovering rage-aholic in last year's superhero blockbuster The Avengers from Joss Whedon. He reteams with Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) and others in a sequel slated for 2015.

He is currently filming the drama Foxcatcher opposite Steve Carell and Channing Tatum, and will also star with Julia Roberts in the upcoming HBO film The Normal Heart, directed by Ryan Murphy. Adapted from Larry Kramer's play, that movie -- set for 2014 -- takes place in New York City during the early-'80s onset of the HIV/AIDS crisis.

When asked earlier this week about rumors that the next Avengers movies would center on a Hulk storyline, Whedon responded: "Well I’m really not supposed to comment, but no, that’s nonsense."

Yeah, I think it's been pretty well known that if another Hulk movie were to be made, it'd be post-Avengers 2.

It's not disheartening, we've known since the beginning that there wasn't a Hulk film planned at all during all of Phase 2, so it shouldn't come as a shock at all.

I said anyways that I'm not even sure how they would have set up Hulk before the next Avengers movie anyways. I'm just ready to see Mark Ruffalo take the mantle in his own movie.
