I just received My "Eraserhead" Copy from Criterion from their recent Flash Sale, I don't know if it has been mentioned earlier but just so that future Buyers know, that the Box Art will say First Printing "But" the Disc will say Second Printing. I went into shock at first until I checked the Disc.

My disc finally arrived today, almost two weeks after I received my gift certificate.

I hope mine is sitting in my mailbox too, as I have also had a gift certificate for nearly two weeks.

Judging from the label, the disc seemed to have been mailed on October 24.

My guess is that they issued the gift certificates upon receiving the discs and did not mail a wave out until last Friday.

I also received mine today.
Adam: Why do you waste your time with that second-life bulls**t? Look at you. You're still in jail. You were in jail last week.
Jacob: Yeah, I'm a prisoner. It's called "doing hard time".

Me neither; hopefully tomorrow. In my case, it's coming cross-country from New York so I imagine it would take a little longer.

Mailman just came by, still no replacement disc. Probably getting antsy for no reason, but kind of stinks to buy this the first day at normal price and not have a corrected copy yet.

Criterion's press release regarding the first pressing's missing footage said the blank section was an issue inherent to the original camera negative. Has anyone learned from where they've sourced the restored footage?

After reading about the trouble Criterion (and their customers) have had with this release, I'm even more content with my purchase of the sleek Japanese edition:

Most Anticipated Titles
1. May 2. The Toxic Avenger 3. City of Lost Children 4. Spirited Away 5. Return to Oz 6. Freaked 7. Cherry 2000 8. Street Trash 9. Happiness of the Katakuris 10. Ebola Syndrome
+ All the Marx Brothers films and any pinky violence titles, especially Bohachi Bushido

As a customer, you send Criterion your disc, if you're in the US, and they credit you with 10 dollars for their store, and afterwards they send you a corrected disc.

If you're not in the US, you email them proof of purchase and they send you a corrected disc.

I'd hardly call that trouble, and it may be lot of work for Criterion, but they have acted very quickly to produce the corrected discs, and people will get them, so it's a short term "trouble".

I'm glad I waited for the superior Criterion version of Eraserhead.

Still haven't gotten my Eraserhead replacement disc, but they already sent me a new Three Colors: White disc, which I mailed in along with Walkabout 2 weeks after Eraserhead.

It sucks they are not recalling retail copies. My B&N still has the same three discs they've had since release week. Nobody buys movies there unless it's Criterion Sale time.

I used to regularly drop $40+ on LaserDiscs, so $30 + $2.90 in unforeseen shipping costs isn't gonna kill me, but it's still a sh!tty way to set up an exchange program (compare it to Warner Bros.', or Anchor Bay's present one for HALLOWEEN 4, wherein they never even request return of the defective disc in the first place).
I don't care to defend Criterion, but HALLOWEEN 4 is a cheaply produced, b-movie. These discs are much more expensive and they are also preventing any possible fraud with people faking proof and sending out free copies. I'm sure people aren't as bothered to scam for HALLOWEEN 4.
