^How is the sound distributed between channels in a solo recital? What are the surrounds used for?

I had a re-listen to the disc, and what found was that the main recital in very front centered. The percussion is more back centered. The sound is something different and am enjoying it. What i like is the power in the sound. Its very good.

Default Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

Had the pleasure of listening to this soundtrack today.

Was impressed by the tunes that Pritam has churned out. Some songs were instantly catchy: 'Ilahi and Kabira'. Loved Harshdeep's version of Kabira.
Looking forward to Ayan Mukherji's second film after Wake Up Sid.
I enjoyed Ghagra a lot as well, for obvious reasons , lol, Madhuri is in this song and its looking and sounding good.

I dont know if these songs will last the year, but some decent tunes here by Pritam.

I am also loving the song Tum Hi Ho from Aashiqui 2. Song awesome vocals by Arijit Singh.

Roop Kumar Rathod is a very good Indian ghazal singer. You should listen to his music..

^I personally find RKR okay-ish as a singer, definitely not in the same league as a Hariharan or a Bhupinder. I feel his voice is quite bland, and the deficiency becomes apparent in songs that require a lot of feeling like Vatna ve from Pinjar or Saare yeh aalam from Shiva.
I believe he used to be tabalchi for Anup Jalota before, and ended up taking the latter's wife for his own. It was post-marriage to Sonali that he was launched as a singer...not that I'm saying this has anything to do with

+1, I have to share your sentiments there Ravenus. RKR, given the challenge could live up to it. A prime example of this is from the Movie soundtrack Bhairavi, RKR stunned me with his rendition of 'Om Namah Shivay', sung in proper Raag Bhairavi (duet with Kavita Krisnmaurty), his alaaps, were amazing, even though he was singing with Kavita Krishnamurty (She is just splendid in this track as well). Its was the first and last time i heard him sing so beautifully. there was one more song by RKR in the same album called 'Moh Maya', which is slighty subdued, but definitely better singing than majority of his songs.
Though i must add, this album belonged to Kavita Krishnamurty, what a stunning display of her talent!

Music is by Laxmikant Pyarelal, and they too, really did well. Its unthinkable for me to think that an album like this is not celebrated or given its due!

Oh ya. I remember reading about LP speaking on Bhairavi's music at the audio launch. They said that Sur Sangam was not appreciated because it was too heavily classical, and they were hoping that this one would have more appeal among the people. Sadly the popular tastes by that period had become too biased in favour of dhik chak even to appreciate lighter classical melodies from these maestros of Hindi film music, and so Bhairavi is another obscurity.
Anyway, thanks a lot for reminding me, I need to get this on flipkart.

It is really unfortunate for them, Bhairavi was a magnificent soundtrack. The Percussion (tabla & Pakhawaj) and Veena work alone in 'Om Namah Shiva' is worth the price of the album. They really were maestros of Bollywood, LP in particular composed such intricate percussion beats, that its hard to reproduce.

^Have you heard these songs by RR from the T-series film Bahaar Aane Tak (I wouldn't dare see the film, though )? Actually the original soundtrack release had a very nice duet with Talat Aziz and Anuradha P, but I can't seem to find that one, possibly because they didn't actually use the song on the film.
