I only really tuned into this weeks NXT for the main event and it was a weird match in all regards. On an indy a Chris Hero/Tommy End match would be a big deal and it seems WWE know this yet they’ve still just chucked it out onto a random episode of NXT with zero build. It was also a weird match in execution, too, Ohno is the perfect first proper opponent for Black on paper but the mach takes forever to really get going, I mean when it does get going it is downright incredible. So ****ing stiff and brutal. But why the long feel out process in the first place?

I’ll probably skim through the other weeklies over the weekend if I get time, I feel so much better for not going out of my way to watch them like I did in the past.

Check out Jerry Lawler's newest podcast interview with Jerry Lee Lewis's son, the 3rd, to promote Great Balls Of Fire! It looks like this may be a yearly PPV instead of a one off though.

Just skimmed through SDL. Becky + Sami *heart eyes emoji*. GINGERS STICK TOGETHER!

As shit as the Ellsworth finish was for the Women’s MITB in isolation, I have to admit the pay off has actually been really good. It’s put a spotlight on the Women, albeit maybe for the wrong reasons but as much as I hate to agree with Triple H this is a soap opera and not a legitimate sport and in showbiz any publicity is good publicity. It’s also really kicked the SDL Women’s Division up the arse, how good were all the promos from the Women this week? Like hats off, I actually care about this Division again. It worked.

Time will still tell what damage this causes in the long term or what long term positive impact it may have. And we’ll never truly know if this was the plan all along or response to the backlash but all I hope is that next week Becky Lynch wins.

Not sure how to feel about Kevin Owens v Chad Gable in the US Open Challenge. Firstly as someone who almost never bothers with the matches on the weeklys, what are those adverts about? WWE surely knows where ads go where on the show, right? So why did they start this match literally as the commercials began. I know we get that window in window thing now but still, it seemed weird that so much of this match had shitty adverts blasted over the top of it.

Then there is the issue with the fact that this was a HELL of a performance from Gable, especially given he hasn’t been on TV for what… three months? But after Owens has been losing matches and eating pins for weeks, after months before that cheating his way out of every match, he took Gable’s absolute best and almost with one move won the match anyway. What does this do for American Alpha? In the context of Daniel Bryan talking about how WWE failed American Alpha (which is 1000% correct) is this really his response? Jason Jordan chills at the back while Gable loses a US Open Challenge?

Even prerecorded, Orton delivers promos like a robot. Still his flat delivery made the funnier stuff in the promo even funnier, albeit for the wrong reasons. Like how can you deliver lines like, "I will go to India and rain down Rkos on Jinder Mahal's family." completely deadpan?

Mauro's back.

Quote:
Mauro Ranallo announced today that he will be joining the NXT commentary team. Mauro confirmed on Twitter that he will be making his yellow brand debut this Friday at the Full Sail University tapings.
Also, from his Twitter:

Quote:
THE NXT CHAPTER BEGINS! WWE and I mutually agreed to end my responsibilities on SmackDown having nothing to do with rumors about disputes. As I remained under contract with WWE, we discussed a variety of options. Despite originally agreeing to part ways, there was always a desire to continue working together. We have come to terms on a new agreement that benefits both WWE and me, and I am thrilled to announce I will now be part of the NXT broadcasting team.

Ironically, JBL was innocent in this situation. Mauro quit because he hated being micro managed by McMahon. (Its the same reason why Foley quit the broadcasting position.) Great to have him back!
