Huh? A TV show from 2008 is part of the Archive Collection? I mean, why?

Um, because they've been using their Archive Collection label for MOD product, and it hasn't mattered if it was a classic ancient film, or a modern TV series that they abandoned full retail releases on.

Also, god forbid that they'd test the TV market... The Archive Collection is likely the only way you'll ever see certain TV shows on BD. (Batman: The Animated Series & likely, the original Batman)

I picked up that Season 1 release of The Mentalist. Got it from Amazon for $17.99 during one of their Xmas sales.

Warner Archive are really lagging so far this year. No 'classics' in the TRUE sense thus far. So disappointed. And as far as that goes, not even a Vol. 2 announcement from WHV concerning Classic Gangster films. Wow.

Just a guess, but perhaps because there's only 6 actual BDs in that "sale"?

And now you can buy five of them for 50 bucks. So guess again.

Well, there were only four Blu-rays in the sale that I needed, but there were a few DVD-Rs that I was interested in, so I picked one, The Nick Carter Mysteries Triple Feature, to make five titles. Basically got them all for 50% off.

Looks like the next WAC BD may be The Wind and the Lion...

On edit: Funny, just as I found that bit from Twitter (at Warner Archive's site), I spot the news item here at blu-ray.com.

The Archive started off very good with "Gypsy" one of Warner's best musicals.

Now we're offered "Hit the Deck" another low on the list of MGM musicals much like "Billy Rose's Jumbo" which is also not a very good film.

I guess the better ones are going to Warner Bros Home Video - but will they ever released them?

Yankee Doodle Dandy
The Bandwagon
Annie Get Your Gun
Show Boat (1936) (which just got a DVD release - go figure)
Kiss Me Kate (3D)
Damn Yankees
Victor/Victoria

Even Brigadoon and The Unsinkable Molly Brown would be better offerings

I always thought that the "Archive Collection" was meant to encompass any and all movies/shows that someone would want to Archive not a collection of only classic films? If WAC released only "classic movies" they would never make money. They have to release what the market dictates. I myself would love a Blu of The Learning Tree but I don't see it happening

this has been by far the biggest let down from Warner .. too few titles and movies which arent of interest to me and Im sure others. They dabble into Joan Crawford and only release the Women ..what about Mildred Pierce which is a far better film (IMO) ? or Sadie McKee ?
A lot of their Archive DVD releases at least to me should be re-released on blu ray and there should be a special trade in program for those that own the DVD...there's a lot of *good stuff* from their DVD archives from The Unsuspected to Betrayed to Nora Prentiss, Daddy's Gone a Hunting...even some cool monster movies like Valley of Gwangi...that deserves a blu ray release too...

That's been on my "to watch pile" along with a lot of other late 60s/early 70s movies for years now, I should watch it tonight. Maybe follow it up with The Music Lovers.
