Yeah, amazon probably trying to unload the old masters....disc exchange worst case scenario!

Just got it in and the bottom of the disc has B1R2 so I should be good to go!

The version I picked up on Black Friday last November has 2 disc set above Paramount logo on the right hand side and the UPC 883929375226 on white sticker.

Do I need to exchange?

Dude, do a little reading, it's been answered many times - including by me as recently as 2 posts ago.

Read this post for the best/only way to really know - first screen, you're in the race; second screen, you must replace:

Default Gladiator / Troy combo details

Hi I noticed the gladiator / troy combo pack bluray is $10 at best buy this week so I think I will buy one.
But I want to know if these are just standalone movies like most (all?)combo packs or if they include all the extras.
If they don't include extras I may pass.
here: set it to vibrate and finish yourself off

^ Gladiator is a 2-Disc release by itself, so I would say that the Double Pack ditches the 2nd disc.

It does get rid of disc 2. I'm glad the steelbook contains both discs though.

What I don't like about this release is that we have lost an audio channel, the DVD was DTS-ES 6.1 and the Blu Ray is DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1.

The DVD 6.1 was probably matrixed, blending part of the rear left and right channels into the center rear. So not true discrete 6.1. Quite a few DTS DVDs did that.

Hi, My first ever post/reply on Bluray.com! I also had purchased the original 2009 release of Gladiator Sapphire Series. I am in Canada. I recently discovered the video problems with this release and did much research to discover how to purchase the remastered version.

Today, I visited my local Futureshop (Canada) store and took a chance on the Sapphire release of Gladiator again. (I had also found the Steelbook edition at a local Walmart store but was not convinced it was the remastered version). Anyways, I purchased the Sapphire version again. In the store, I looked at the back of the package, at the date listed and it was: 2010 DW Studios L.L.C. and Universal Studios (my old version is the same except for the year: 2009).

There are a few other very minor text placement differences with the back of the packaging but not much. The '2-Disc SET/ENSEMBLE DE 2 DISQUES' (Remember I an in Canada, so it's bilingual) - is listed in the lower right corner of the package. The UPC code is NOT yellow, it is white and is listed as '83929 30560' (for what it's worth...)

I opened up the disc straight away when I was in my car and I was very happy to find that on the back of Disc 1 - the holographic number ending in B1R2

Once home, I fired it up and another good sign was during the opening titles, the 'GLADIATOR' word remains black all the way through (the old version would start in black and then fade into Orange/gold). And of course during the opening battle sequence, yes I noticed more flaming arrows and of course the quality of the picture itself was VERY noticeable. It is very strange that they would have allowed the original version to be sold the way it was!? Oh, and the physical discs themselves look the same, they are light grey with the silver font.

Anyways, it seems that the surefire way to find out if you have the remastered version is the B1R2 on the back of disc 1. Of course, going by the back of the packaging itself, if the year listed is 2010 or better, that is a good sign it's also the remastered version.

I had done a lot of research on this subject and appreciated everyone who posted their findings, it helped me a lot. Hopefully my personal experience will help someone else!

Actually Gladiator 2 Disc DVD DTS ES 6.1 has a discrete 6.1 channel audio :

I have this version and I can confirm that:

http://www.amazon.com/Gladiator-Sign.../dp/B00003CXE7

I've just recieved an order from Amazon.co.uk with Blu-ray Action Starter Pack which has Gladiator 2 Disc Blu-ray and it is the Remastered version.

The pack has 5 movies and I got it for £7.42

I´ve just bought the BR at Amazon (Sapphire re-issue) and:
Has the " B1R2 " disc
white barcode backing
"2 disc set" on back cover
light gray discs
black "GLADIATOR tittle on opening sequence

So it seems that many of the first "signs" are not enough to identify the remasterd one

Black Gladiator title on opening sequence means it's the remastered edition.
