Question:
With all the recent steelbooks/metalpaks being offered in the US there are a lot of dupe entries...if I add one of those entries to my collection, and it gets deleted, will I get automatically moved to the proper entry? Or do I have to re-add to my collection?

I ask, because there are 3 entries for the WM metalpak exclusive for Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

This is why I believe it would be good to be able to see pending title additions. If users could see new titles pending approval then users could search to see if the title has already been submitted before submitting a new profile. This could cut down on the number of duplicates being added to the database in the first place.

Yes, I searched all SteelBooks in all countries and if "SteelBook" was in the title, removed it. I did not remove Stickerbook, because I figured that is a sub-type like "Limited Edition" or "Boxset" and the casing type is still SteelBook.

(For the unaware, you do not need to put "SteelBook" in the title any more when adding a new Blu. The database looks at the Casing field, automatically adds "SteelBook" in the sub-heading and makes the title findable using the search term "steelbook". Same thing for retailer exclusives.)

I noticed a few of my pending updates seem to be taking longer than usual. Is there something wrong with my submissions?

Two different problems:

- I have a pending update that is waiting for some time now (I have even tried to resubmit it with an explanation, with no more luck.)
Now I think that maybe this has to do (or maybe not) with the use of the character "À" (that the database seems to deal differently depending of the pages.. so maybe it causes some king of bug in the admin pages, that makes it not appear to admins)

The pending update is to correct "À la Merveille" in "To the Wonder (À la Merveille)"
for
http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/A-la-M...Blu-ray/72049/

But it is not absolutely necessary to change it. It is possible "À la Merveille" is the original title for Malick, and that To the Wonder would only be the international title (even if the english title is richer in meaning than the french one and, the fact that, if it was true, we would have probably had the title appear in this way at the end of the film, with a subtitle or a parenthesis to name it "To the Wonder"). So the change is not absolutely necessary.

- There is a French bundle from Carlotta that contains two Murnau films, that are not available individually (but that are individually available in other countries).
http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Coffre...Blu-ray/13284/

So for the moment the bundle in the database in not linked to individual titles, and so it not linked to individual movies.
That makes that City Girl and Sunrise are suggested in recommandations even if we have this bundle, and so on..

So I am tempted to add the two individual titles in the database, even if they will probably never be available individually.
Is such an idea tolerated ?

Thank you !

Done.

[This is actually incredibly easy and anyone can do it. About an inch under the image of the Blu-ray is a link that says "Edit movie". Click on that and the (Theatrical) movie ID is the first entry field.]

BUG

The search box does not take into account entries under "United Arab Emirates".

For example, if you search the terms "Mary Poppins", the search box will show only one entry (US) while in fact there are 2 (US + UAE).

Are there any future plans to upgrade the forum software? An implementation of a more robust editor would prove very useful (tables + on-the-fly formatting)

I would have done it, but I don´t have admin privileges for that country.

Hmm... that's odd; I don't even know what that means. I've edited entries in every single country in the database and never seen that, and you have 100,000 more contributor points than I do.

I have admin privileges for the Nordic countries (Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark). For all other countries I get the "Error in submission" message when I try to submit a spec.

No it appears to be a site programming issue. He's a contributor (kind of between a regular user and admin) with additional database rights for a specific region. Based on the posts I've seen here in the past, if you're a contributor it appears the site tries to apply contributor rights to every region but if you don't have rights to specific regions then you can't contribute information for those regions. Ideally, it should only give you contributor status, with specific upgraded rights, to your specific regions but then allow you to contribute with regular user rights for the other regions.

Default Some dupe titles that can (possibly) be deleted

Many of the Disney two-movie collections also have entries for the separate titles even though they aren't released separately and there is no expected release date (Emperor's New Groove, Mulan, Lilo, Rescuers, Fox and the Hound, Atlantis, Cinderella 2 & 3, etc.). It would be nice to be able to remove these from search results. Do I have to provide a link for each one or does just mentioning them bring enough attention to their existence?

Yeah, that's it, because he mentioned "admin" again. I'm not an admin in any way, just a member of the site that likes to update and keep accurate the database, and like any other member, can edit any movie entry. (Getting info accepted can sometimes be another thing, though, am I right, people? )

Each film needs a separate entry when released on Blu-ray even if it's only available in a double-pack. Each film in the set may have different audio, subtitles, aspect ratio et cetra. So it helps to avoid confusion.

I don't understand why a top contributor couldn't send messages to Deciazulado, pm are blocked, i have no other choice to send replies here, so read this:

If i'm asking to delete these entries it's because they don't exist, it's a mistake, they should be deleted, there's no Blu-Ray edition, only DVD, I have direct sources from major editors.

I've been frustrated too, occasionally, but because hundreds of users submit millions of pieces of information (that he/she controls the acceptance of), Deci might get an overwhelming number of messages.

And as Deci said, they still have use as placeholders. Someday there might be a Blu-ray for that title and at the very least, we can add it to our Wishlist on Blu-ray.com.

I've personally added dozens of pages for non-existent Blu-rays, so I have a complete list of what I'd like to own some day, and also in the (very) long chance that somebody at a studio might just see some title here with hundreds of people saying they want it and move it up the release schedule. Ya never know.
