Almost one year to the date of this being released uncut for English Friendly folks I finally have my copy in hand to go with the UK release I picked up years ago. DiabolikDVD came through for me. Despite being a bit on the pricey side, I'm happy to finally have this on Blu Ray in it's fully uncut form. I'm currently seeing what options I have to get the artwork resized for a 3 Disc Viva Elite case, but overall I'm happy with my purchase.

Is it still possible to buy the original Swedish version or other uncut scandinavian ones? Hate the MPEG downgrade and DD 5.1 audio of the 3-Disc LE.

Amazon Japan appears having the uncut version (not sure about mosaics) but with Japanese sub only.

My understanding is that none of the other uncut blu-ray releases have English subtitles.

Which I would be fine with, just won't take unnecessary risk with the Jap release, would be better off the original one.

Yeah, I'd definitely skip the Japanese release. I don't do a lot of ordering from Scandinavian countries, as their releases rarely have English subs, so I can't really help you out there. Good luck!

I looked on the various European sites I buy from and couldn't find any of the Scandinavian releases. However, I did find this:

http://www.dvdparadies.at/Blu-Ray-Sh...serbian%20film

It appears to be the Austrian release. And if so, Blu-ray.com lists it as MPEG-4 AVC with Serbian DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1. Supposedly, it's uncut, although DVD Paradies lists it as 103 minutes.

Looking at your collection it appears you don't own any version of the film. Have you ever done any sort of A - B comparison across any of the releases? I own both the UK (cut) version and the Unrated 3 Disc edition and I'd be willing to be that unless someone told you which was which, you would probably have a hard time telling the difference. I understand the desire for "the best out there" and the lack of lossless audio is a bummer for sure, but in the end owning a copy of the film (or two in my case) far outweighs any minor negatives associated with how the film was encoded. This is a modern film shot on the Red Camera system, it looks and sounds gorgeous regardless of the method it was transferred to disc.

With Child's Play receiving a Collector's Edition release by Scream Factory, and including a collectible doll, any chance we'll see a similar release for A Serbian Film?

You want a collector's edition of A Serbian Film with a collectible doll?

You sick bastard.

[Show spoiler]In all seriousness, I'd be surprised if Shout acquired the rights. I know they've been acquiring the rights lately to 95% of horror flicks in existence, but the films they release are 'safer,' for lack of a better word. I can't imagine that many labels are gonna want to touch the uncut version of A Serbian Film with a barge pole.

Hang on, didn't Shout release The Human Centipede trilogy recently? Ignore everything I just said. I guess if they're willing to release those (or more specifically the second one), there's no reason they wouldn't consider Serbian.

I tried to look for it, but it appears the first release is long OOP here. You used to still be able to order it from SubDVD in Sweden, which is where I got my own copy back in the day, but they closed earlier this year. And the one big mainstream chain store in Copenhagen, where I have seen it in stock, and which might still have had it among their discounted discs, unfortunately closed shop forever about a month or two ago.

There are a few other Scandinavian e-tailers, like CDON, but IIRC they all actively opted not to stock it, when it was first released, because of some Swedish social justice warrior/ douchebag, who campaigned against it.
Most wanted blu-ray upgrades: Kafka, The Limey, The Horrible Dr. Hichcock, L'orribile secret del Dr. Hichcock (ITA cut), Kill Baby Kill, The Changeling (1980), Ringu, Ju-on, Man Bites Dog, Creature (The Titan Find), Irrèversible, The Fearless Vampire Killers, The Black Hole, Carnival of Souls, Cat People (1942), I walked with a Zombie, The Thing From Another World, L'arcano incantatore, Andy Warhol's Frankenstein, Andy Warhol's Dracula, The Revenge of Frankenstein, Lust for a Vampire.

Another contradiction from SF is that they couldn't release Ms. 45 because of the rape scenes, but now they're releasing the uncut Death Wish II, which had to be censored because of the rape scenes.

Great find, seems like a legit place to bite one.

Very unfortunate, which is why I couldn't access SubDVD website the other day, thx for the extra information from Denmark buddy.

Some valid points, I would eventually go with the LE if there is zero chance to buy other legit uncut versions, who would refuse native English sub.
