Watched this last night and thought it was really good. It definitely has plenty of replay value.

As for the subject matter-sorry, i don't believe that's how it went down. OBL was either dead a long time ago or.......he's not dead at all. You can't believe everything the media tells you. They could of at least showed the body to all of america. That would be the least they could do for us for a man that killed thousands of people. They showed those other guys- i forget who they were- on the FRONT PAGE of all news papers shot dead. I was expecting that for OBL. But nope. Oh, we threw him in the ocean. Right. We had no problems seeing Saddam Hussein captured (again, all over the front pages and news) and then years later knowing he was dead (whether for the right or wrong reasons that's a whole other topic). So why all this secrecy for OBL?

Back to the movie itself. Oh, my. Jessica Chastain looks so good in this movie. I always loved her naturally pale skin. And seeing her again in this reference bluray transfer was lovely.

I liked it a fair amount, but....

It's a grim and episodic docu-drama about the killing of OBL. For me, I'm not sure there's that much replay value. Watched it once in the theater, and that seems like it was enough. Chastain is great as the CIA operative. But there are some uncomfortable torture scenes that are unpleasant to get through. I was tempted at $6, but gave it a pass. If you haven't yet seen it, however, I think it is one of the important movies of 2012. Unlike one of the conspiracy theory posters above, I do think this is probably not that far off from how it went down. My 2 cents.

PS In terms of what's it like, I'm having trouble coming up with a close parallel. Argo is also a docu-drama about some grim events in the Middle East. But ultimately Argo's a more upbeat, feel-good, action-packed movie. And, esp. if you ask a Canadian, there's a bit of Hollywood and USA patriotic exaggeration, as well as minimization of the role of Canada that went into that one.

ZDT might, or might not, be more accurate in terms of the events. Hard to say, since a lot of it is classified. Some people think there's a fair amount of stuff in the film that otherwise would be classified, but some people in the US intelligence service wanted to talk to Hollywood, and so it got in the film. In any case, like the real OBL case, it involved a lot of boredom and false leads before they finally tracked him down.

Another point about ZDT is that it was directed by Kathryn Bigelow, one of the few women directing big movies in Hollywood these days. She does a good job imho.

Thanks for the help.

It reminded me of Zodiac in a strange way. I know they are completely unrelated subjects but that was the feeling I had.
