I'm not sure, I do know that the director and dop where in no way involved with the conversion. They finished the film in 2d then the studio took it and has a 3d conversion done. It is possible that they did a hybrid but this would be the first I heard of it (afaik it is a complete conversion).
Not true at all.

Some discs are just not mastered correctly and that's a fact. Godzilla, Thor, Fright Night, Edge of Tomorrow, the second half of Transformers 3 all have brightness issues and most of Disney's/Pixars discs are contrast boosted.

It's very rare to get a perfect looking 3D disc that looks right on a calibrated monitor because of the different types of glasses.

I set my whites to white with contrast and then make my blacks black using brightness.

I'm certainly not going pay good money to sit and watch a shit looking disc that hasn't been color corrected properly, when it takes 2 seconds and fix it to how it should look.

I scored a sealed copy of The Bubble 3D for $12 SHIPPED from a seller on the trading forum. It arrived in the mail today. Although I have many Christmas films yet to view (some in 3D), I will try to squeeze in The Bubble 3D one night this week.
Well unless if you have an oled I guess you could say crushing the very dark greys.

Finished watching Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes. Again...WOW!!! Loved the story. Bit long...but it was nicely paced and had my attention the entire time. Some really striking 3D scenes in this one. And it being in full screen 3D just makes the 3D more impactful and impressive.

Watched Sin City 2. Story not as good as the first...but still held my attention and wasn't as bad as critics made out it to be,imo.

Visuals and 3D were really good. Always a plus when the 3D is presented in full screen (1:87.1...or whatever aspect ratio it is,lol).

Even though I have other new 3D releases to watch (13 to be exact, lol) it's time for me to start watching some Christmas 3D musts.....starting tonight with A Christmas Carol. Then Polar Express, Arthur Christmas, Harold and Kumar, Hugo, Frozen, Rise Of The Gurdians, Wizard Of Oz, and Ice Age Christmas

Thank you for the list. Reminded me to pick up Arthur Christmas. That's the only one I am missing.

Watched TMNT: the 3D in the snow downhill scene and the climatic tower scene is worthy of your 3D viewing time ALONE!! Great depth and dimension. Nice pan out shots. Good flick, great 3D.
