Stumbled onto a sale while cruising the net a couple weeks ago and was originally going to purchase a couple of bookshelves in the Imagine line but they were sold out. Ended up buying the PSB Synchrony 2B, I've had them now a little over a week and the front soundstage mirrors what I had with my Paradigms they are just wonderful, so great in fact that I called up the dealer in Ottawa and asked him to hold the Synchrony 2C for me at the sale price and he's agreed to do so. I also like that PSB is Canadian...
Congrats on your purchase too. Yeah PSB is here in Pickering, Ontario under a name called Lenbrook and this company also owns NAD which is another brand I like. PSB was introduced to me by the dealer and I ended loving them.

Just skimming through this thread, I already own a pair of Image B6's as fronts and an SVS PB-1000 sub to handle bass, just wondering why some were recommending just the Image B5 and not the Image B6 for surround speakers?

Surrounds really only need to play down to 80 hz well then you will crossover the a sub, so the B5 is plenty of speaker. Also people tend to have less room for bookshelfs behind them so a smaller more compact speaker can also be another factor.

Default Which AVR with PSB Imagine T2s

Need some help selecting the AVR to drive PSBs

I have nailed down the speakers for my HT setup going in for the Imagine T2s as fronts, Imagine C Center and Image B4 surrounds. I am really confused on the amp front though.

NADs sound good but seem way overpriced for the features and output they provide.

I am looking at Anthems, Integra (Onkyo high end brand) and Marantz even willing to consider separates. Pioneer Elites sounded too bright.

I prefer warm detailed sound.

Would love to get some suggestions from folks here using non-NAD AVRs or separates to drive their PSBs.

Thanks

I love the sound I'm getting with my PSB Synchronys through the Anthem/Rotel set up. They sounded great with the Anthem alone but with the Synchronys being 4ohm I decided to add the Rotel amp to the mix and now they just shine. The Imagine line I believe is 8ohm and you would do well with the Anthem or even Marantz - you indicated you liked a warmer output...
Main system
Anthem MRX 300 - 61" Samsung HL-T6189S - Sony BDP CX960 400 disc BD player - Rotel RB-890 power amp - 2 PSB Synchrony 2B fronts - 1 PSB Synchrony 2C center - 2 Paradigm ADP 350 rears -1 Energy S10.3 sub - PS3 160gb - HTPC

NAD gives honest power ratings, where many of the other mfg's dont always do that, they either give 2 ch's driven or false 7 channel ratings. The feature set is a little lacking, but its tougher for companies like NAD, Arcam, Anthem to keep up with Onkyo, Pioneer, Denon etc when it comes to the latest and greatest features.

I love my Integra, I do like Anthem and Marantz as well. They are all great choices.

Hello, I am using a Marantz SR6007 and a Parasound A23 for HT and listen in 2 channel mode for music. I have the imagine t2's and find the sound is very detailed in low and high volumes. I also did notice that my receiver runs cooler when watching a movie.

I originally had an H/K rcvr driving my psb's...way too warm. Then I switched to an Integra and it was like hearing my speakers for the first time. Unbelievable accuracy, clarity and detail.

Anyone know if image B4's have a mounting hole in the back? If not can anyone recommend a old mount for themselves tey are small. I would rather not use the omni pinpoint mount. It is just too big

If seperates are truly a possibility, Parasound would probably meet your criteria quite well. I have both the Halo A-31 and A-51 and am constantly amazed at how precise, detailed and warm they make my Stratus Golds and Minis sound.

They are a bit pricey but deals constantly come up on both AudioGon and e-bay.

posted this over at avs about my new Image B4's as surrounds:

Having a full matching sound stage (first time I have ever had exact matching tibre speakers....I had a full reference Klipsch setup but the rears were not exact matching timbre as they were 12 years the younger)...let me tel you it is a treat!!! so seamless its great!! I watched Hot Fuzz Saturday and in the opening where the sirens goes all the way around you was AWESOME!!! almost wish I had done it from the get go.

Also Direct radiators is the way to go. I had the dipole klipsch and the sound was too dispersed (especially sine my room configuration did not allow for proper placement of them where the wall mounted articulating arm allows me to aim the B4's perfectlt)

The sound that comes out of these little speakers is staggering! I wouldn't put it past anyone to use these as mains (paired with a good sub of course) IN A MEDIUM ROOM.

Just awesome...I love my psb's more than words can describe...and to think I almost jumped ship to the more expensive aperion grands...but at twice the price
