The financial dire straits of Sony US does not necessarily reflect on their (many) European subsidiaries.

Other factors may of course also play a part. Maybe Blu-rays of catalogue titles generally just sell better in the EU?

Yep, Sony US works pretty independently of the other regions, so their deals with TT don't reflect what other regions will release. That does give people hope that titles like Fright Night, and Christine still have a chance of being released overseas at any time.
