If everyone were to go the Synapse route, we'd still be waiting on 3/4 of the titles already in our collections. I love the quality Synapse presents, but their time frames leave A LOT to be desired. Case in point, they ran an ad in Horror Hound Magazine last summer advertising Tenebre and Phenomena for Fall 2014. I can handle delays of a few months, because things happen, but there's little excuse for a full year or longer delays. At this point we'll be lucky to get one of those titles by Fall. This isn't isolated to just these titles either, this is a recurring theme with Synapse. Announce title with planned release window. Fail to deliver during release window, and then use the excuse that they won't rush perfection, taking additional years to finally release their product. Perhaps it's synapse that needs to release less and instead focus on one product at a time so that they can actually release there product in a more reasonable time frame. Last I checked there were still films promised years and years ago that have yet to see their release.
I think we live in a world that feels like it needs to announce a title as soon as the thought crosses their mind. I guess this is because the horror media will find out and leak the info. I just hate that, like you said, we wait and wait and wait for certain titles. In the past we wouldn't have heard about until like 6 months before release. Now we hear about things 2 years before release and can rightfully get impatient. Not sure that there is a cure for this. Either we accept inferior quality or be patient for it to be done right. First world problems I suppose.
