Default "This feature requires Local Storage" Message

I put in the 2010 45th Anniversary BD disc of The Sound Of Music in my Sony S590, to just play the movie, and I got this message:

"This feature requires Local Storage. Your Blu-Ray player supports local storage but none is currently installed. 3 MB minimum required."

I pressed "Continue" to watch the movie.

So, today, I bought a 16 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive, a Micro Metal version ($9), and plugged it into the back of the Sony S590.

When I reloaded The Sound Of Music, then the above message did not show anymore, nor will it show again in the future.
The eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear with hearing.

What feature requires extra storage?

I found the same, minus the error message, happened to the first edition of STARGATE - the disc just wouldn't load on my Panasonic. Calling tech support Panasonic told me to get an SD card. It seems some discs are made in such a way they need additional memory to be loaded by the player. Some dump load info onto the added memory and this quickens the loading process the next time the disc in put into the player.
Note: if you go to your player's menu there is probably an option to format and clean the additional memory on the added device. Depending on how many disc dump info you might need to do this from time to time.
BTW - I've shut off the BD LIVE feature because this too is a source of slowing down the loading of a disc and it too can dump info on your added memory. Beside, I rarely even use the BD LIVE feature - most of them lack in good content anyway.

I suspect it's the BD Live feature on that disc.
