I own it. It's not the best looking BD, but it's not a complete dumpster fire. It's soft looking and has a lossy DTS High Resolution 5.1 track. It also has a scene inserted that is missing from the US cut. After Hutter finds Orlok in his coffin, the scene continues with Schreck talking about how he knew the philosopher Plato. Plato died in 348 BCE, making the cameraman wonder if he's something else besides an extreme method actor.

It's jammed with special features. Most are very interesting. The B Roll was an interesting watch. It's B locked.

There are a few movies I'd like on BD. Both of The Brady Bunch movies from the 90's, Anne Frank The Whole Story, The Village, What Lies Beneath, Antz, Murder By Death, The Last Voyage, Titanic (1943), True Lies, and Outrageous Fortune.

Very few of the suggestions fall in the category of "surprised they haven't been released yet". This has become just another list of "things I want even if nobody else does".

For instance, I have no interest in either The Abyss or True Lies but they're indeed head-scratchers. You'd have thought they'd be out by now.

Some of the suggestions are in fact pretty obscure. Titles you'd be surprised if they HAD been released.

Surprised the following haven't gotten releases, off the top of my head:

Defending Your Life
The Hitcher
Lean on Me
Leap of Faith
Night Moves
The Philadelphia Story
Ruthless People
Searching for Bobby Fischer
Stakeout
Three Men and a Baby
True Lies
What About Bob?
Young Guns 2

Good points. I agree.

There's movies I really want to see on blu-ray like Freeway (1996) and Leatherface (1990) but there doesn't appear to be any demand for them and it's not like they're in dire need of HD transfers.

However something like The Hitcher (1986) is something that if you simply google 'The Hitcher (1986) Blu-ray' you'll get a ton of results for people placing it high up on a blu-ray wishlist and it's a movie that would benefit tremendously from an HD transfer because of the amazing scenery and the fact that the DVD looks terrible.

It's a popular movie that would sell very well. If dreck like Poltergeist 2 & 3 and RoboCop 3 can get Shout! Collector's Edition releases then surely The Hitcher can.

From what I've read though, it's caught up in right's issues. It's owned by a company that simply doesn't care to do anything with it but hold onto it.

I'm confident it will make it's way to blu-ray some day though. Maybe in the next 50 years. We'll see

American Me- since it was released on HD DVD and not blu-ray. It just makes no sense.
A Bronx Tale - since it is a classic mob movie with both his directorial debut and starring Robert DeNiro.
The Beach- a classic Leonardo DiCaprio film with scenery that would look stunning on blu-ray.
(The original) Bad News Bears- a childhood classic from my generation.
The Gods Must Be Crazy- an 80's classic that had a huge following back then.

"Pink Floyd: The Wall" in particular comes to mind.

Such a particularly awesome movie ripe for blu-ray is STILL nowhere to be found on the format.

I mean, I do have a decent bootleg HD copy in my possession, but a genuine 4K remaster with a Dolby Atmos remix of the audio track MUST happen sooner or later.

Unfortunately that blu-ray of A Bronx Tale is a U.K. release and is the wrong region code for American blu-ray players. Which that is baffling because why would that movie get a U.K. release and not a U.S. release? I did hear the transfer isn't good though.

Region 1 only exists for DVD, not Blu-ray disc. You mean Region A USA.

I'm still generally upset Parks and Rec isn't getting a blu-ray release since it was shot, broadcasted, and streamed in 1080p.

Surprised Panic Room hasn't been released to finish off Fincher's oeuvre

Also where's The Hitcher, this would look fantastic as long as they keep the grain

According to the specs on this site, it's Region Free though.

I'm surprised Baywatch doesn't have an HD release. All the episodes were filmed with 35mm film.

Also Deep Space Nine should get an HD release.

It's such a shame that this show is only available as mediocre at best DVD-Sets...
