Sword Art Online Film Ends With 'SAO Will Return' Teaser

Quote:
The Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale anime film opened in Japan on Saturday, and it ended with a teaser that read "SAO will return."

Yen Press is publishing the novels and manga in North America, and describes the series:

In the year 2022, gamers rejoice as Sword Art Online - a VRMMORPG (Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) like no other - opens its virtual doors. Now players can take full advantage of the ultimate in gaming technology: NerveGear, a system that allows users to completely immerse themselves in the game world by manipulating their brain waves to create a wholly realistic gaming experience.
When the game goes live, the elation of the players quickly turns to horror as they discover that, for all its amazing features, SAO is missing one of the most basic functions of any MMORPG: a log-out button. Now trapped in the virtual world of Aincrad, their bodies held captive by NerveGear in the real world, users are issued a chilling ultimatum: conquer all one-hundred floors of Aincrad to regain their freedom. In the warped world of SAO, "game over" means death - both virtual and real...

The series has two television anime adaptations, an anime special, and the current anime film. It has also inspired multiple manga series, games, and a virtual reality demonstration in Japan. Aniplex of America releases the anime in North America. Skydance Television is planning a live-action television series based on the novels.

Yen Press will publish Sword Art Online - Alicization Running, the 10th novel volume, on April 18.

*Raises hand*

I watched the first six episodes and it bored me to tears. I'm definitely in the minority though. Also the massive, massive hype before it aired didn't help. I went in with slightly negative expectations because of how obnoxious the hype was.

The way I see it is stuff like OPM and Sakamoto with one major joke to play off is if that joke doesn't work for you, you are probably not going to enjoy the series as much.

I would be excited for Digimon Tri if it wasn't Shout Factory handling it. IF they treat this release like the did with Long Way North it is gonna be shit. Long Way North has dubtitles for the hearing impaired. Just like the US release of Ghost in the Shell.
I have heard several people say OPM is dumb because it just re-uses the same joke over and over. But I don't agree with that.

Queen's Blade Gets New Anime, Figure Project

Shinya Oosaki designs characters for Queen's Blade Unlimited

Quote:
The official website for Queen's Blade opened a website for a new mixed-media project titled Queen's Blade Unlimited on Friday. The project will include a new anime and figure line tied to a new story.

Shinya Oosaki (Tokyo Necro) of Unkown Games is redesigning the characters, including those in the visual above, with the theme "coolness and sex appeal." The website teases "new battles" for "18 beautiful warriors."

The first Queen's Blade anime adapting Hobby Japan's combat picture book series based on the Lost Worlds game premiered in 2009. The franchise has since inspired two additional television anime and multiple original video anime (OVA), manga, and novels. Media Blasters released the first two anime series in North America, and Sentai Filmworks released the third series and the Queen's Blade: Beautiful Warriors OAV.

OPM is great & I'd say it's a good safe blind buy.

ME! I had been sporadically checking the official movie site for ticket/theater info in the US but it continually only had one theater in my entire state, and nothing at all even close to being within a reasonable distance, so I was bummed.

On whim I decided to just check the Fathom Events website and 'lo and behold, the theater about 5 minutes from my apartment showed up. Sure enough, I checked Fandango and secured a ticket! This will be my first anime theater experience.

Ugh. I have Prime but I don't think I can even bring myself to do the trial. I don't wanna support that trash in any way. I hope it fails miserably. I'm already gonna go legit illegitimate for Saekano 2 until the BDs come out.

Jealous! I'm three hours between either Sacramento and Los Angeles, the two closest. Gonna make a weekend trip out of it and drive to Sac for the 11th showing in the morning. Anime movies are fun, I plan to start doing them more. My first was the Psycho Pass dub.

Does any one know, or have a pic/scan, of what the SAVE edition of Robotic:Notes reverse cover looks like? I'm really thinking of picking it up, but am still trying to decide if I want to hold out for the regular set.

Yeah, I'll buy it for sure but since they didn't even bother to dub it, I'll wait until it drops in price.

Oh crap I forget about that. I'll wait till it gets lower then, $15.99 would be good. Shame as it probably would have been a good dub.

Eh, the inclusion of "Ghiblies 2" more or less compensates it for not having a dub for me, as with the retrospective feature.
