Darn, no English subtitles! I imported the ANDREI RUBLEV bd and was impressed by the quality though I would upgrade if Criterion was able to release it.

Has the lack of English subs been confirmed?

This is already in stock from oron.ru, but they won't ship outside Russia (sigh)...

Yes. I have the disc.
Also the transfer is rather inconsistent:

Looks to be the same master used for Artificial Eye's recent re-release - ie. some extremely dubious colour timing.

Any chance you could post/link to some full res captures, as apparently the disc is also quite soft?

They are available on hdclub.ua for the registered users. I can download them and send off-line. Let me know if there are other options to share these snapshots.

If you've got the time, one option might be to upload the grabs to somewhere like http://www.dropbox.com/ (which is free) and post links, then everyone could see them?

That's great, thanks! This actually looks fairly sharp to me - sharp enough to reveal focusing problems in the original photography, much sharper than the Kino Sacrifice and about on a par with the Criterion Solaris. Such a shame that it's been colour corrected by Stevie Wonder... Hopefully another label will take this on, re-balance the colour, boost the contrast and add an English subtitle track.

It appears this has been up at Kniga.ru, but doesn't come up in the search. Found it via Google. $23 shipped to the USA:

There's now a Japanese release of this too: http://www.ivc-shop.com/shopdetail/0...ge1/recommend/

Wonder what the transfer is like, do IVC usually just re-use releases from other regions?
