AGREED!
The dumbest character in cinematic history is not Jar Jar Binks. It's David Larrabee. I mean...who the hell overlooks Audrey Hepburn!?

It seems to me the amount of classic movie releases is going down from a high of 2012 or 2013. Just looking back and thinking about all of my classic films, not counting Criterion which releases at a pretty regular basis, the major studio releases seem to be drying up.

I can imagine the sales numbers for a lot of films on Bluray are very small so maybe they are deciding its just not worth it. If thats the case they better at least start selling the rights to companies like Criterion that actually care about classic films.
Not only should it be on Blu-ray it should be available in a wide variety of packaging. From those Anniversary Boxsets in the style of Casablanca or Ben-Hur...All the way to digibooks and steelbooks!

Heck, maybe film some new special features with Sean and Luca while they're at it. That'd be cool!

Maybe Criterion should take Roman Holiday off Warner's hands???

Other than Roman Holiday, it's astonishing how many classic films still haven't made it to blu yet. Other ones I'm waiting for are The Philadelphia Story, His Girl Friday, Duck Soup, Gilda, and several of the Bacall/Bogart films.

Didn't Paramount give a bunch of their movies to Warner to release? Was Roman Holiday not one of them?

You could get the Japanese BD for Gilda if your looking for a Region A release.
The Alamo, Black Rain (Jp), Far from the Madding Crowd, Gray Lady Down, The Incredible Shrinking Man, Interrupted Melody, Lust for Life, Mississippi Burning, Moby Dick (Gregory Peck), The Other Sister, Ryan's Daughter, Searching for Bobby Fischer, Sink the Bismarck, Swing Kids, Testament, Them, They Died With Their Boots On, The Thing from Another World, War of the Worlds (Orig.) & When Worlds Collide

Roman Holiday has been restored and will be shown at the 2015 TCM Classic Hollywood film festival in March.
Hopefully a bd release will come in the Fall.

You are my favourite person right now. You know how you aren't supposed to shoot the messenger? WELP, I'd probably serenade the messenger or something in this particular situation!

I see they also have the 1939 Hunchback restored as well.

ANYBODY live in Hollywood who can go check out the new print and report back to this forum!?

Is the TCM festival over with yet? I would appreciate an announcement on the RH BD immediately following the festival's conclusion.

Apparently Amazon Prime is getting Roman Holiday this month. I wonder if it is the new TCM transfer.

Netflix currently has it and it looks like a new transfer.

So does anyone know if this film will definitely be released on Blu-Ray at the end of this year?
Fathom Events are having two nights of nationwide screenings towards the end of November, so maybe that will tie-in with a national Blu-Ray release? Hope so!

I've been dying for a release for years. The fact it hasn't even been confirmed for this year even though a transfer exists peeves me to no end. I would love to tell you it is coming at the end of the year, but I can't do that.
