Thank you for the information! I'll look into that for sure. This brings up another question I have and maybe you or someone else could help me understand a bit better. I don't get why some purely American made films are available overseas in bluray format but 'not' available here in the States??? Some of these title have been available for years outside the U.S. but never have made there way here. Why is that?

Be advised that both the DE and FR releases are region B locked. It could be for a number of reasons. It could be a rights issue or something more complicated.

Yeah, I noticed that they were Region B locked. I don't have a player that will support either of those sadly. I noticed Sweden had a Region Free version of Open Range but it's not available anymore. Bummer.

I'll keep on hoping for an U.S. release someday...

Just finished a 6 day project of adding all my DVDs to the database here.

Guaranteed there are hundreds in my collection that'll never see a BD release. Hell, I have legit DVDs that aren't IN the database !!!!!

I would say it's pretty likely The Time Machine is not going to get a blu-ray release (the remake, not the original). I can't even find it in HD in digital, either.

Another one I doubt sees the light of day is Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan The Directors Edition. Extended cut of the film and easily my preferred version... that's why I still treasure my DVD copy of it.

The site says the French release is region free. Link

Anyone a fan of Walt Disney's 1991 film White Fang? That's another one I really enjoy that desperately needs a blu upgrade... but sadly I don't think ever will get one. The mountain scenery in this film was amazing.

There's a bunch of early Touchstone Pictures titles that I'm pretty pessimistic about unless they somehow get sublicensed (and at this point, I'd be more than happy to take Mill Creek releases for all the ones I mention here):

Down And Out In Beverly Hills
Ruthless People
Outrageous Fortune
Tin Men
Can't Buy Me Love
Stakeout
(but Another Stakeout is actually available...go figure )
The Ref

Like others who've already posted, I'm also pessimistic at this point about The Abyss, True Lies and Strange Days. Maybe they'll come out when Avatar 2 is released.

A couple of classic Barry Levinson films: Avalon and Bugsy (although these both being Sony titles gives me hope that maybe Twilight Time will release them).

And finally, a guilty pleasure from the late '80s: Tapeheads with John Cusack and Tim Robbins. It was an Anchor Bay DVD, but who knows? Maybe they still have the rights.

I gave up waiting for Down And Out In Beverly Hills and Stakeout, and bought the HD iTunes version.
