Overrated strictly from a 3d depth and pop out perspective, both of which are nothing special. I have watched Avatar in 3d 3 or 4 times now (I really enjoy the experience overall for film/audio/video) with 3 different projectors since I got it over 2 years ago. When I first watched it on my RS40 being new to 3d, it was impressive. As I have revisited the 3d on this title over time and having experienced more 3d in general with my RS45 and now BenQ W7000, the 3d just cant compete with the best 3d titles out there. Titles like Flying Swords of Dragonsgate, Hugo, most of the IMAX films and of course a bunch of animated films all have superior depth and/or pop out. There is nothing reference as far as Avatar goes and 3d in light of the competition IMO.

Oh, I also just watched a good chunk of Avatar again after setting up a little HT system for a family member which consisted of a Panasonic VT50 65" set. Once again the 3d is nothing special strictly from a depth/pop perspective. Throw on Avatar then throw on something like Flying Swords of Dragonsgate, Under the Sea, Madagascar 3, Sammys Adventure, etc.......there is absolutely no contest.

I thought the 3d in D3bfg Edition was sloppy, something was just off about it. The parallax adjustment was a nice feature... tough to explain.. Kind of like there was minimum nonadjustable space between the left and right cameras, and what you could adjust just pulled the images further apart or closer together either A sinking the picture further into your tv or B pulling it further out of the TV, but at no time did I feel the adjustment increased the overall parallax. The depth layers were weak to reference the Z dimension - i've always been a Doom fan, *IDGOD* :P, it was fun to revisit D3 and beat the snot out of it again for old time sake but after a short time I dumped the 3d and played it through in 2d.

The latest Black Ops, that was a good 3D FPS. And a comparable experience to better explain the difference I'm referring to with Doom.

I try every games 3D and then play it in 2D. Adjusting Doom got ride of all the crosstalk and still had good depth but gaming in 3D makes my head swim.

I agree with him that they should be full screen (16:9). I watch 3D from 10' on a 120" screen. The screen fills my vision and the 3D is fully engaging.
What I believe he's saying is that 3D movies intending to be released in 3D, whether filmed in 3D or converted, should be 16:9 and I totally agree. Wide screen ruins the 3D effect on a big screen because you now have black bars in your field of view instead of an immersive picture.

I completely disagree with both of you. I watch 3d on a 9' wide 2.35 screen and 2.35 3d is more immersive vs 1.78 on my setup. Having said that, I always push for OAR no matter if its 3d or 2d.

1. Batman: Arkham City (Awesome game, fake 3D)

The best 3D game I've played is Child of Eden on the PS3, it is mindblowingly good.

It is the Sammy of gaming with amazing visuals and the highest popout per second ratio of any 3D product I have ever seen.
