We can only hope. The Last Emperor in OAR from the new master would be Christmas for me.

I own the Japanese BD. Yes, the newsreel sequence is there, uncut.

Hi, how is the PQ/AQ of the 2013 Italian 3D release by Eagle?

Does it include the theatrical and extended versions?

Does it include the newsreel footage?

It's gorgeous, but it has the brightness turned way,way up, so it's unwatchable without 3D glasses on.

It's OAR, as is the Japanese release, all other releases worldwide are cropped on the sides, per the cinematographer's bizarre request.

well, actually the italian bluray shows even more information.
I think it could be 2.39:1 comparing to the 2.35:1 of the Japanese one.

The Italian 3D BD shows a bit more image than the Japanese on all 4 sides, it's a brand new 4K scan from the negative.

I have to believe we'll eventually get a new 2D release from this restoration.

Default Can I play this new 3D version on my normal HDTV?

I don't have a 3D TV. But I really want to give this new version a try. Can I play this new 3D version of The Last Emperor on my none-3D TV?

I'm still mad that we don't have this film in its OAR.
"Hey, Joe, could I ask you something personal, very personal?"
"Certainly."
"You know, it really stinks down here. How often do some of your people take a bath?"
"Bath? My God, I don't know...What day is it?"
"Forget it, Joe."
