I can barely find any information on the remake. Is it fanmade?

It was a major studio release: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0455857/?ref_=nv_sr_1

Essentially the first 20 minutes of the original stretched out to feature length. I for one hated it.

No it was a major studio release, and did quite well at the box office if I recall. The lead actress is good and it is much more of a cat and mouse thriller, with some horror elements. They took the entire middle portion of the original and cut it (thank god). I thought it was really good!

I liked the remake as well.

Oh my bad, I thought you were talking about HBTM.

I really liked the sequel of the original movie. The beginning of the movie with the new younger babysitter in the school uniform scared the shit out of me when I was a kid. I wish that it was out on blu-ray right now.

Just watched Happy Birthday to Me for the first time. I'd heard years ago that that Melissa Sue Anderson had a nude scene in this.

Anyway, I'm kind of lukewarm on it. The killings were something you don't normally see in these kind of movies, and its strange to see Glenn Ford and the girl from Little House on the Prairie in this. The movie seemed overly long and the ending is indeed Scooby Doo like. However, the movie kept me off balance so much that I really didn't laugh at the ending or anything.

I think I like it better thinking about it after the fact than when I was watching it, but I don't think it has much reply value.

When a Stranger Calls is ok, but the first half hour and the last 15 minutes are the best. The in-between stuff is lacking. This could have been a classic with more effort. Perhaps even better than Black Christmas. But the middle part of the movie ended that.

My region free Indicator Blu-ray of Happy Birthday to Me arrived in the mail last week, but I haven't had a chance to watch it yet.

My decision to double-dip over the Mill Creek release was an easy one, because I love this movie so much, although I'm keeping my Mill Creek double feature as well because of When a Stranger Calls.

I'm hoping there's a standalone edition of When A Stranger Calls in the works, preferably from Indicator. I'm kind of done with Twilight Time.

A pretty good release. I enjoyed the Hysteria Continues group commentary in particular. I love their passion for the slasher genre. The booklet is excellent too, although I wish there were some more photos. An easy recommendation for any fan of the film or fan of 80s slashers, especially if you don't already own the Mill Creek release.

However, when downsizing my Blu-ray collection recently, I decided to keep the Mill Creek double feature and do away with the Indicator (a good choice considering I got almost $30 on eBay for it). As much as I enjoy HBTM, I can live the rest of my life perfectly content with the Mill Creek release.

Outside of audio commentary it doesn't look as if the Indicator version is that much better than what is on the double feature and so I will not be upgrading.
