I'm even more confuzzled than before. Serves me right for being so indecisive.

Seriously though, I think I'm going to hold on a bit for now. I just hope Despicable Me doesn't go up again and I might be able to rent Tin Tin at some point before I decide to buy it. I guess there's no rush. As well as my other 3D blu-rays, my rental of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs arrived this morning too, so I've got plenty to keep me busy for now!

The HDTV airings of Tintin (2011) are in 1.78:1 and open-matte! God! It looks so much better with the extra room, adding even more dimension and scale to the images. Plus, some of the shots have a sense of IMAX-like vertigo that wasn't there in the 2.39:1 version. The composition of the Open-matte 16:9 version looks better in my opinion, than the scope version. Alas! we can never own it!

Anyone know if this is shipping with a slip from Amazon US? Left it some time hoping price would come down a little more but feel i may have missed the boat with getting slip now. Anyone ordered a copy recently?

Can you get the Amazon CS guys to check these things or not?

I realize that the CGI is much more detailed and spectacular in Tin Tin but I've read that the 3D depth is a bit shallow at times and as there are a lot of fast action set pieces, I'm concerned that the 3D will just be another element in the movie (e.g. like Transformers). With Despicable Me, it's cheaper, perhaps slower paced and the 3D looks to have great depth in the trailer....I must add that I do like proper 3D depth in my CGI animation movies....loved Megamind for example. I haven't seen either of these movies yet so I just can't decide....decisions, decisions.

Any advice please?

While I'm waiting, I've still got Final Destination 5, Coraline and Yogi Bear to watch on Bluray 3D. I'll have to spend more time actually sitting down to watch these movies rather than posting on forums.

Hugo pre-order is also in the post apparently, so I can't wait to see that...that will be on instant play as soon as I get it.

Im still waiting for Tin Tin to come down down but I cant rate Deapicable Me highly enough.

Great 3D with lots of pop and depth and a fantastic feel-good story with plenty of heart.

Your "complaint" about the movies yet to watch sounds so familiar to me!! I still have both Harry's and a couple of animated ones. Trying to get through Puss now.

I really think this is one of the most enjoyable movies on 2011. I saw it in 3D at the cinema but had only really watched the 2D blu since buying it. Last week i decided to sit through the whole thing in 3D and whilst i agree with a lot of people that it doesn't immediately grab you as really spectacular 3D, it becomes incredibly immersive and after the first few mins you are really sucked into this world. Fantastic film and great 3D.
"Still in all, every night we does the tell, so that we 'member who we was and where we came from... but most of all we 'members the man that finded us, him that came the salvage. And we lights the city, not just for him, but for all of them that are still out there. 'Cause we knows there come a night, when they sees the distant light, and they'll be comin' home."

I think Spielberg's work in the film is exceptionally strong, which is saying something. People who say he can't make movies like he did in the 80's should really check this out, because the trademark choreography and staging ambition of films like Raiders and Temple of Doom are all here, in spades. It is a young adult movie, directed by a master -- it's like watching a Hardy Boys movie directed by Michael Curtiz and Orson Welles.

It's so much fun -- the first act is a bit quiet, a slow build orienting you as to the look of the film and the characters. Once TinTin and Haddock meet, it's a full-throttle romp.

Just received the 3-D version on Blu today. Will be checking it out this week. A great family film, a smash around the world, but audiences ignored it in the U.S., unfairly. Check it out.

Felt the exact same way when I watched it in theatres. When watching it again on blu, I expected it that time therefore enjoyed it a tinsy bit better than the first time. Either way, I too had trouble keeping myself awake. It literally put my kids to sleep while it nearly knocked me out.

Anyway for Canadians, it's $15.00 at Wal-Mart for the 3D combo pack. Kinda bites me since I payed $22 on release day for the 2D blu-ray. And the cover looks grand.

Rewatched this yesterday, is it me or is this one of the best animated movies ever made? So so stunning, i can't get over how good this looks still. Make the damn sequel already!! Oh and the 3D is still really lush.

Not sure if animated is the correct word as it is motion captured. It looks like the sequel may be delayed and thus likely not happening as PJ last I heard after The Hobbit films wants to tackle some smaller.
Display: Panasonic 65vt60 with a darbee darblet, Benq w7000.
Audio: Benchmark Dac1 ->DNA Sonett -> Sennheiser HD800 (balanced).

Yeah I also read that, I guess I'm just hoping that they let someone else do it instead if PJ doesn't want to. Perhaps Joe Cornish as he had a hand in the script for the first one. I think it still qualifies as an animated movie as everything that wasn't motion captured was animated and there's a lot of key frame animation amongst the mo cap. If its not an animated movie, what dies one call it?

No idea, probably a hybrid. My main reason for posting was the PJ looking like he wasn't going forward with it.
