I'm not sure of the difference either. The definition of a sociopath from what I understand is someone who can kill another person without the slightest twinge of guilt or remorse much like Heath Ledger's Joker character in The Dark Knight or the character played by Ethan Hawke or the younger version of him in Taking Lives.

I think every movie has at least one sociopath, since a large majority of the population has at least some of the traits considered sociopathic.

Fassbender in Shame is a prime example.

Depends who you ask. Some say (and I would agree) there are no differences, and that sociopath was created as a new word, because people were getting psychopaths (the original term) confused with psychotics, a completely different thing. For the same reason, there is now a term, Anti-Social Personality Disorder (ASPD), being created, argubaly, to replace "sociopath," because people are now associating sociopaths were psychotics anyways.

I think the main thing to note about them is that they are not the same thing as psychotic people, even though psychopath is a similar word.

That's interesting to know Kevin. I hypothesized that psychopaths actions are more geared toward their emotions and limited understanding of the way societies oblige under rules and unwritten moral laws. Whereas sociopaths are geared toward more their rational and understanding of how they must operate given a societies framework.

I am also assuming too that people get the two words confused and noticed members sharing suggestions of characters with highly violent emotional behavior which consist of more of a psychopathic tendency in comparison to a sociopathic one.

And thanks for the input Kevin and thank you fellow Blu-ray members for posting!

No problem man. It's worth a look, but it isn't that great of a film.
