I think before you power it on you need to press
Yellow A?
Red B?
Green C?
on your remote to change regions

As far as I know or at least on mine I pressed 1 for Reg A, 2 for Reg B, 3 for C, if you indeed have the Region Free 5100 and that just about you need to do. Also do this insert the disc and close, turn off the player once its off, press #1 on the remote for Reg 1orA, this will turn on the BD player and play the disc for the selected Region.

Thank you, doctor. Now it works.

I `ve got one region A-movie ,Return to Nukem High, and that doesn`t want to play. But that isn`t big deal since all my region B-movies work.

Thanks again!

Sorry for the late response. Yes. Even I face the same problem. Sony service center was of no use. Stuck.

I actually have this same issue, and was wondering if there is a way to get around this myself.

I'm looking at buying another BD player for the bedroom and I was going to bite on the S5200, however I noticed the S5200 has not got a front display but the S5100 does. Upon looking at the specs of the 5100 I couldn't really notice any difference so is there any reason to get the S5200? If I want them region free they both cost pretty much the same so price isn't an issue.

My S5100 has been quiet for a long time since I bought it over a year ago. Now any Blu-ray disk I put in there makes a loud vibrating sound while watching a movie. It sounds like the drive is spinning too fast. I opened it up and tightened 3 screws a bit on the drive. It helped a little but the noise is still there. I also put softer feet to see if that also helps. I'm kind of disappointed since it is a nice player.

I got a 5100 last year and cracked the case trying to take it apart (don't ask why) so I junked it out so my region free 5100 has a stock of spare parts including the optical drive.

Can someone please confirm that the Berlin Philharmonic Digital Concert Hall is still featured amongst the online options under Music in the player's menu? It was there three years prior on my BDP-S470 and I'm just wanting to be sure that it is still featured. Thanks.
