I went into a high end speaker store, and they recommended the Imagine XIT series and Imagine T series....any thoughts/opinions?

Also what is the difference between the XIT 1 and 2 versions, at the store they only had the 1, and the Imagine T for me to listen to.

Hello,
I have 5.1 speakers (4 PSB AlphaB series and a PSB 5i sub).

I have a question about the levels set by YPAO from Yamaha RX-V773 receiver.

After running YPAO (4 positions of 4 inches around the sweet spot) , I doublechecked the results with my SPL meter (Galaxy CM-140) for each channel (left front speaker level gain 0.0 for 75dB) . The SPL lowers the center channel of 1.0dB (YPAO= -0.5 and SPL= -1.5) , it lowers right front speaker of 1.5dB (from -0.5 to -2.0) , the right surround of -2.5dB (from -1 to -3.5) and the left surrounf of 2.0dB (from 0.0 to -2.0) to get 75 dB everywhere.
Is it better to stick with YPAO levels settings ( in order to respect the EQ for FLAT or NATURAL choosen by YPAO) or is it better to choose the SPL results ?
Thanks for your help

Been trying to decide on Zone 2 speakers for a while. Chain in Canada is clearing out Image T5 speakers at 40% off, new in box with full 5 year warranty. I feel like I'm 90% sure this is the route I'm going. My main room is all Paradigm (Monitor series v4 and v5 + Studio series sub, Servo 15v2) but the only speaker within my price range would be the Monitor 7v7 and I'd need to to be around 40% off too in order to get close to the $600-$700 I want to spend.

For the Image T5 the $598 + tax works out to around US$500/pair. Pretty sweet price I think.

There is also Monitor Audio MR4 for $600 locally and Polk RTiA5 were $500/pair last week on Amazon Canada and Best Buy Canada.

Thoughts?

1) PSB Image T5
2) Paradigm Monitor 7v7
3) Polk Audio RTiA5
4) Monitor Audio MR4

The T5 lacks some bass extension but its highs and mids are smooth and slightly laid-back. Overall I'd say they're slightly dark sounding. However I think I'd take them over the others. Will certainly sound different then what you have now. The Image line I felt was better then the MA Bronze BX but the Silver RX was ever so slightly better then the Image. I heard the series 7 Digms but only the mini monitor version. I'd say they're evenly matched performance wise but will sound slightly different from one another.

Rather strange turn of events but at the last hour a deal on a speaker I wasn't considering came my way and I ended up going with Acoustic Energy Aelite 3 floorstanding towers. List price a couple years ago in Canada was $2,700/pair, so as you can tell by the speakers in my post above, I got an insanely good deal on them. Around 20% of MSRP.

Very happy!

Hi,

I just picked up a denon x4200w avr to go along with my psb t6's, c5, and s5 speakers. Do I need an external amp to really let my speakers loose to do it's thing? If i do, i am thinking about getting a emotiva xpa-2 for my 2 fronts and a xpa-5 for the rest of the speakers. Any thoughts or advice, i would greatly appreciated it!!

It depends on how big the room is, how far the listener position is from the speakers, and how loud you plan on listening to them?

More news on PSB's Atmos speakers;

from http://www.wifihifi.ca/LatestNewsHea...mDayThree.html

5. PSB Dolby Enabled Speakers

Touted by Dolby as the most accurate Dolby-enabled Speaker Module on the market, PSB is selling these speakers for around $600 a pair. Mount them on top of any speakers, (or alternatively wall-mount them with the included mount) and voila! You have yourself a Dolby Atmos speaker set up without the need of cutting holes in your ceiling or fishing wires through the rafters. According to Dolby, these speakers are the only speaker modules on the market that match the closest to both the Dolby Atmos-enabled frequency curve and dispersion angle.

A guy near me has a pair of PSB Century 600i 's for sale for about $100. Does anyone know if these are real nice for PSBs? I would have to track down a center for it, but am considering them...
