Well....if 3-D is truly dead I guess we should bury it before it starts stinkin up the joint. When everyone comes to pay their respects the headstone will read, "Here Lies 3-D". There will even be a pair of 3-D glasses on the headstone so the words can pop out at you.
On a never ending mission to stop the spread of BS.

"HAS 3-D HAD IT?" "DOES IT GIVE EVERYONE A HEADACHE?", and then ambivalently goes on to say "Well, um, not really, actually. "Apparently, the Bashing is still an easy tabloid sell to the masses. (A very, very easy one, as we will soon find out from the next few posters who will now join in on the without having read the UK-side article.) Still, there are some folk who will cling to their own stereotypic views of the format: [Show spoiler]

#1: Cost. Adding on to my ticket price for a novelty experience that suffers due to reason #2 is not a good way to help the public adopt that new technology. Blu-ray 3-D being slightly more expensive is fine, but differences of $7-$10+ or more is just GOUGING. #2: Framerate. I had suspicions of this before, but watching The Hobbit: AUJ in HFR 3-D confirmed it. Until Blu-ray 3-D movies are released at 40+ FPS (I would prefer 60 over 48, personally), people will still get headaches (my fianceé does) at 3-D showings, and 3-D at home will not be worth the equipment cost or additional Blu-ray cost. The Hobbit: AUJ proved what 3-D can be, and I look forward to more enterprising filmmakers adopting higher framerates where 3-D presentation is desired (2-D presentations can keep 24 FPS at the cost of clarity in high motion scenes). |

3D is alive and well, my 3D disc of Top Gun will arrive tomorrow and I'm looking forward to it. The verge is dead because they need to generate this garbage instead of real news.

If it is still being used by a Gallifreyan it is no where near being dead and gone. "I wanted Uhura to kick ass. I don't care if I'm kicking or punching something or someone, I just wanted her to sort of be a little more physical."
