Default Anyone up for The Divide?

This site rates it 'highly recommended' but I have seen mostly negative reviews on this one.

Has anyone out there seen it? Any good?
Someday we'll look back on this and it will all seem funny

Beyond this site recommending it, I have seen mostly negative reviews. I thought it looked interesting, but I have to say, the negative reviews are swaying me into not getting it.

It's a good film, heavy and grim. It's not something I would want to see a second time or have in my collection. Definitely not recommended for blind buys.

The theatrical 'preview' review on this site wasn't as favorable as the BD review either, it got a 5/10.

Seems like a major nihilistic movie which I'm sure turned a lot of people off. Then again, it deals with the apocalypse, so what do people expect. I definitely wanna check it out since I really enjoyed Frontiers, Xavier Gen's first film.

That being said, I'll probably rent it first

Just watched this.. Movie was dark and, as others have said before me, not something I wanna watch again anytime soon.. Not a bad movie at all though! Loved the audio on the BD!!

Just saw The Divide - excellent post-apocalyptic thriller. Really intense, and much better than I expected. All of the actors/actresses were excellent, and the story was fantastic. Though, as to be expected it was a real downer & extremely nihilistic...

Especially liked the ending,
[Show spoiler]when the female survivor left the others behind & went to the surface in the survival suit, with the canned food....and saw the devastation. Obviously, she would have been any better off staying in the basement...

The film also brought up a couple of questions:

[Show spoiler]1) Why did those people in the white survival suits forcibly take the little kid from the basement? And, later, why was this kid - along with others - in those capsules with their heads shaved & their eyes tapes shut? Were they being tested for radiation?! If so, why put them in those capsules?! This was never explained....

2) Who were the people in the white survival suits? Were they Americans, or were they the foreign invaders?!

Question 1 is why I really disliked this film.

Question 2 is answered if you pay close attention.

Certainly had promise this film but it was quite bizarre to be honest. Wouldnt bother watching again.
What does that mean, Rickles?

Yes, you're right - the more I think about this, the answer to Question 2 is
[Show spoiler]that the people in the white survival suits are all Americans - based on the fact that the basement survivors heard American voices on the radio, and those were the people who were looking through the rubble.

I'm thinking that these people in the survival suits welded the door shut to the basement, due to the fact that these people were dying of radiation poisoning - and they didn't want them to contaminate others.

Yeah, I blind bought this. Thought it was unflinchingly good for what it was going after. Put it up on my shelf with pride, but won't be taking it down any time soon either, if that makes sense...

Agreed. The Divide was an excellent film, but not one I want to watch again in the near future - maybe in several years - if that...
